    just curious but take the example of SWT , they now recieve no government subsidies and pay a hefty premium back into government coffers, so how could nationalisation be justified in this case? Surely the government is making more money off of them being a private company ??

    The 458/0 will stay with original windows, which is why we are now stocking both types , intrestinly i was talking with a collegue who was actually involved with the design and build of the original family and he tells me the Junipers were originally desgined to be five car.

    I rode on a 159 from Waterloo to Bath and back in first class , the seats are amazingly comfey and the ride was superb , the next day i rode first class to Portsmouth and back on a 450 then a 444 , ithought that they were more uncomfortabe than the 159.

    when i came on duty at Wimbledon Depot this evening the ten car 458 was on 8 road , with the Alstom guys fussing over it , as of 01.30hrs it is still here and the contractors still working on it.

    Whilst riding in first class on a 159 down to Bath on SWT for the day , a women got on with her daughter(about 5or 6 yrs old , she was taking her to an audition of some kind) , she started spraying a whole can of hair spray over her daughters head , it was so thick and cloying that it triggered...

    Dorking had a lovely little hut on platform one selling tea, coffee and snacks at very reasonable prices , when they refurbed the station they booted him out and put a chain coffee shop in even though a petition was running to keep the hut , it's not the same anymore and it is expensive as well.

    Like they say , you gotta keep trying , i applied for a guard position with SWT , passed the assesments , passed the interview , got the job then failed the medical on a weak left eye , funny as it never stopped me joining the Army , then reapplied for a cleaning position , and got an email back...

    At present we have 12 x456's here at Wimbledon depot, some in the shed, some in top yard and some over by the lathe , and a pair on 6 new road all are in Southern livery with decals removed , the two units in the shed are being used for fiier training while undergoing 'B' exams . There is not...
