    How could Lumo expand/develop/improve?

What a great idea. An 8 car 350 formation able to run at 110 mph. GWR run 387s to Cardiff alongside IETs after all. The WCML mixes 110 mph units 350/397s with 125 mph pendolinos.

    How could Lumo expand/develop/improve?

What if the additional capacity came in the form of older 100 mph emu sets such as class 365s or 333s obviously pathed to keep out of the way of 125 mph services as much as possible ?

Proposal to decrease minimum train driver age

IThe minimum age to drive on the London Underground has been 18 for a very long time but I’m guessing once the Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines get their new trains there will no manual driving except in degraded situations.

Raising speed limit on A roads for PCVs.

Certain sections of the A1 are single carriageway and therefore a 50 mph limit applies to PCVs. But these are often quite wide and straight - surely there is scope for increasing speed on these to roads to 60 mph? I ran alongside a scheduled National Express service happily doing this speed at...

Progress on Avanti West Coast's 805/807s Hitachi AT300 sets

Also this system only controls adherence to speed limits - it does not monitor or control speed on approach to adverse signals like ATP/ ETCS does. KVB does better than TASS in that way.

Class 80x driving question (possibly others too)

After spending miles on the limiter at an indicated 124 mph sometimes 125 mph, driving a coach at the limited 62 mph seems very slow.

    TPE Future Network

I wonder if those Stadler 755s would be ideal for TPE services. 100 mph with quick acceleration on diesel mode similar to further 185s.

    Lumo - Qualified Driver - Newcastle (17/01/24)

I think thankfully the interview process weeds out / has weeded out those with ‘doubts’.

    How could Lumo expand/develop/improve?

I thought lumo competed with low cost airlines not coaches. The provision of an on board trolley service alone serving hot/cold drinks sets them from road transport where staying seated and belted is the law.

Edinburgh-London rail journeys "to be cut to 4 hours"

If you have luggage is the plane still faster than the train overall from Edinburgh centre to London centre? Also will 185s have to use the slow line to thirsk instead of staying on fasts as they do now ?

    Lumo - Qualified Driver - Newcastle (17/01/24)

As a coach driver on a fraction of a train drivers wage I clean the vehicle in and out including picking up rubbish, sweeping etc. why should train drivers be exempt ?

    London Underground trains slowed down

Buses have seen an increase in journey times since introduction of London-wide 20 mph limits. Now the London Underground is starting to get slowed down. Is national rail next ...
