Not necessarily, unfortunately there are some pretty bad PCV drivers out there.

Broadly speaking, however, driving a bus or coach requires very good spacial awareness and better observation and forward planning - which should translate into better car driving too. However, many drivers switch in and out of "work mode" and drive their car no better than any other car driver.

The test for the appropriate driving licence category entitlement is more demanding than the car category entitlement and that together with the Driver CPC for PCV and HGV drivers should mean drivers who drive to a higher standard.

An interesting question. For me, I think the tuition I undertook to obtain my PSV licence (nearly ten years ago, time flies) helped to make me a better driver, but I don't think having a PSV licence means I'm a better driver than everyone who just drives cars.

I passed my PSV test 35 years ago. It certainly made me a better driver, particularly in respect of "reading the road".

There are certainly some poor bus drivers out there, but I'd say in 99% of cases that's due to negligence rather than being an inherently poor driver otherwise they wouldn't have passed the test, which is far stiffer than the car test.
