Our new ticketing site is now live! Using either this or the original site (both powered by TrainSplit) helps support the running of the forum with every ticket purchase! Find out more and ask any questions/give us feedback in this thread!
They're not at all bad - and probably significantly better than much of the competition, though as with any system it has its limitations and trade-offs.
And it can't ever make that guarantee*, because in many cases it won't find an optimal combination (some cases deliberately so, others due to...
It wouldn't surprise me! It's quite difficult as an "outsider" with S3/RARS to know what's genuinely a product limitation and what was quietly de-scoped/deliberately not implemented at the behest of one or two vocal operators.
Which ideally no good TOC would ever contemplate wanting to do...
You don't type anything in. The origin and destination boxes are for planning a journey. Not stipulating a fare origin/destination (most of the time, anyway..). If you have an existing travelcard you can specify it in the advanced options. Alternatively, buy from BR Fares.
The industry really needs to get a grip of how the reservation system is being misused. It is a complete free for all today with tariffs conveniently not being set-up for flexible ticket types (that are indisputably valid on the train), seat data that's non-existent, inaccessible to passengers...
These tickets are Advance Singles in the data. They will be treated like any other Advance until and unless the fares data schema evolves to represent other quota-controlled ticket types.
They stop short of admitting to it being complete nonsense & indefensible in the (late) internal review response. Makes you wonder how many other FoIA requests get fobbed off for similar dubious reasons doesn't it...
I think it's a shame staff don't have the choice of an independent retailer for booking PRV-discounted travel.
The usability of the RST Online site seems pretty poor.
Complaint this evening: you can't appeal an "Already appealed" claim.
All well and good, except the train was short-formed and physically couldn't be boarded (explained in the first appeal already). Presumably someone has just looked at the running times in Darwin and clicked the big reject...
In my experience, members of the public tend to have this view until they're incorrectly made to purchase new tickets or prevented from going through the gate with their entirely valid ticket (whilst following their itinerary!) and then delayed as a result of it.
Ah, I assumed they'd be recording proper statistics rather than assuming the handheld device is in a position to do anything more than check the very basics!
The unpublished restrictions that apply to the Network Railcard are for journey planners to apply. They are not for passengers to consume. I'm not convinced this attempt at a restriction will even work due to the nature of how the LNE location works (fixed links - i.e. TUBE or WALK - to get...
I am aware of appeals that have succeeded on this basis for an APCOA car park in Hertforshire.
In the customer's case, the PCN had been issued and the signage quietly updated after the day the car was parked and before the letter was sent to the registered keeper. The driver had timestamped...
Difficult to know what the "barcode failure rate" comprises. Given it's a new operation: Do they have all the public keys they should have (you'd think they would, but just look at PlusBus!), for example.
Not sure what they're getting at with this?
To be fair, it's a lot easier to do air con in a building when you can use rigid copper pipes instead of flexible hoses that have to withstand vibration (and then leak refrigerant..). Cars are just as unreliable in my experience [my own has been useless this summer!]
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
