Does the UK have a "premier" main line?

✅ Peterborough I jest, but e.g. Coventry on the WCML isn't much better. For some reason they forgot to knock down the old part when they were building the new station building & car park.

Does the UK have a "premier" main line?

I've never gotten an £11.10 first class Advance up to Edinburgh for four hours on LNER. Avanti, on the other hand...

Does the UK have a "premier" main line?

In terms of good value fares and sensible ticketing, it's undoubtedly the WCML that is "premier". Things like the OHLE for the ECML have been done on the cheap as well, which doesn't help with reliability. The scenery (particularly in the Lakes) you get on a Pendo is significantly better as well.

    Heathrow Fares on Avanti App

I have genuinely no idea what it's trying to sell. It shouldn't have passed accreditation because it doesn't seem to display fare origins and destinations anywhere to the customer. This information is also nowhere to be found in any server responses to the browser. I can tell it's an SDS routed...

Why are some staff so ignorant about ticketing matters?

I felt bad enough when I dropped a glass bottle by actual mistake - they wouldn't let me help clean it up either (presumably some liability if I cut myself?). I don't think I could bring myself to do it deliberately

Railcard minimum fares incorrectly applying over Summer

I understand affected Raileasy VET/HMF customers have now been refunded for amounts overcharged, too. RDG have sent an email round so hopefully other retailers will be following suit.

    Trainline Flex

Worth mentioning that retailers can cancel tickets (or prevent them being printed) without submitting the refund for settlement.

    Trainline Flex

Presumably they can simply ask for you to cut it up at claim-time if it's been printed (which you have to do far enough before the scheduled departure).

BR Fares now selling itinerary-free tickets

Previously, some TrainSplit customers had poor experiences with SPC not honouring the ticket and Raileasy decided to simply halt sale of these tickets completely. There's scope to review that decision.

Denied Boarding Hovertravel Portsmouth to Ryde

They've stopped doing this in the last year or so, you're lucky to get a couple of months now. Not how the accreditation & standards process is supposed to work at all.

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

It would be to your advantage if you wanted to make additional journeys and to your disadvantage if you wanted to claim Delay Repay. It's a quirk of the journey planner that it's non-deterministic in this way, unfortunately.

Why are some staff so ignorant about ticketing matters?

The mystery shoppers should buy excesses

    PlusBus Tickets

Not that I've heard, unfortunately. RDG consider the whole thing a done deal if you read their press release.

    PlusBus Tickets

Thanks @Edvid Over the weekend we had a query from a customer trying to scan their ticket on Adventure Travel in Swansea. This was escalated to Ticketer with details provided by the customer, and the configuration was updated today. Scans on this operator should work from tomorrow.

    Trainline Flex

In the examples I checked it was a flat 25% of the ticket cost. There seems to be an upper limit on tickets they'll insure too.

    Trainline Flex

Is this not just a re-brand of the "Cancel for Any Reason" insurance they were already offering previously? I think the only thing they've changed here is that it shows up as a faux ticket type (which is fine if the customer knows they're effectively taking out an insurance policy). Anyway, if...

Railcard minimum fares incorrectly applying over Summer

I didn't get any additional context on what had happened or why. Affected Raileasy customers who have been overcharged as a result of this should get an email later this week.

Help! Fined for failure to collect physical ticket!

I am also interested in whether this behaviour can be triggered for a future date or not. @kyaadam Can you confirm the exact prices for each of the tickets you originally purchased please?

Railcard minimum fares incorrectly applying over Summer

This will be fixed for new purchases from tomorrow.
