Our new ticketing site is now live! Using either this or the original site (both powered by TrainSplit) helps support the running of the forum with every ticket purchase! Find out more and ask any questions/give us feedback in this thread!
Yeah I really don't understand how so many retailers are screwing this up. Surely it's something you just automate issuance of based on the origin and destination of the chosen season ticket?
It's unclear to me how TrainPal's "Price Hunter" functionality complies with the Advance Ticket Terms & Conditions which explicitly include a requirement not to refund the difference when an exchange involves a lower-priced fare.
I wonder if RDG are aware of it.
It gives a greater discount than the Disabled Persons Railcard on the tickets it can discount, and requires no pre-payment to access.
34% is also better than 33.4%!
I remain of the view that access to these could be greatly extended by permitting online retail. It should be very obvious to on-train staff if someone is in a wheelchair or not whilst travelling so I reject the suggestion of revenue risk, and there is already facility to buy for someone else at...
Agreed.
No. Incompetence on TfL's part. There is no good technical reason in 2026 RID2 shouldn't be able to query the live status of a contactless/EMV token based on the underlying FPAN.
And being disabled, but ineligible for the Freedom Pass?
For the benefit of the thread, the customer was running "security software" on their machine which was intercepting all traffic and choking on forum ticketing website requests due to some of their technical characteristics. This made certain requests just time out.
Raileasy will be deploying...
Agree with all this.
I understand some of the infrastructure and (lack of) investment makes it hard to do better, but the customer experience is still worse. Some of the decisions being made are entirely within TfL's power (for example, deleting the online web-based status map and replacing it...
Which, of course, directly contradicts the "What can't we sell?" FAQ answer (which was suspiciously similar to the Raileasy website's content) and explicitly said they sell seated sleeper products....
I don't think SilverRail could've screwed this up any more badly than they have managed to if...
I have a few concerns, not just focussed on cost:
E-Ticket penetration is now so high that some passengers genuinely have never needed to use Ticket on Departure. We are constantly having to think about how we can make it more obvious that something is different when ToD is the only option to...
I checked the database table of issued tickets before posting
It is issued in split ticket bookings and it does save customers money. It is also used for journeys where there is no permitted through-fare route. I am not going to start posting origins and destinations (I'm sure RDG would...
It needs someone to go through the list and, for each and every train operator, pull out an extract of all the missing flows to then bulk-allow after a quick sanity check.
It's exactly the sort of work you'd expect RDG to be proactively doing, given they are the custodians of the data-set.
I believe some do, yes.
And in any case, making it impossible on one specific ticket machine to purchase from a different origin is simply not an effective anti-fraud measure in 2026. That ship has sailed.
The efforts need to be concentrated on catching people in the act and using appropriate...
