Forthcoming changes to National Rail Conditions of Travel

DfT have confirmed that they do in a draft model Equality Impact Assessment. I think the challenge will be ensuring that front-line teams are suitably briefed and confident on the matter and don't just default to a "Computer says no" approach when they encounter anything slightly off the beaten...

We could not connect to the services that deliver your tickets

It's interesting it gave you a booking reference. It is possible for retailers to grab a block of them in advance, and then write the records afterwards but it's risky doing it that way, of course. Raileasy don't, if the fulfilment doesn't succeed the payment doesn't even get captured in the...

Trainline to be investigated for not including fees in prices

I think it's been covered before from one of Raileasy's directors (and that was before the commission went down, it's now even worse!) - but yes, I don't think it'd be remotely sustainable without cross-subsidy or a booking fee. Take a look at this thread here

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

Yeah, it's nothing you've done. Every search issued checks for PlusBus in order to be able to offer it to you at the Ticket Information step - even if you have no interest whatsoever in travelling on buses. On this particular flow, I'm told child PlusBus pricing is misconfigured. Clearly it...

All cross country services suspended 23/08/26

I had to make use of this ticket acceptance today. Decided to drive over and start the journey at Coventry instead of Leamington. Coventry gateline: seemed to have no idea what was going on/why I had mentioned I was supposed to be on a CrossCountry service towards Leeds and now wasn't. Told me...

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

Thanks, we'll let FastJP know. I suspect they're already aware, though. 1787503178 Data problem involving the PlusBus tickets on this specific flow, which is additionally not being handled well.

ScotRail - New app / website booking engine from 30 July 2026

Well, was SilverRail if they've had to outsource half of it and haven't delivered a functioning app?

Plymouth to Edinburgh train cancelled this morning by XC

I am also in this boat (well, not going to Edinburgh - but CrossCountry is very broken today!) The NRE page says "You may also use London Underground services at no extra cost as required." You'll be entitled to claim Delay Repay if you get to your destination late.

Forgot to use railcard when buying ticket online

It's slightly surprising to me given that if you purchase a cheaper Advance you're not supposed to get the difference back in the event of a refund. Surely a discounted Advance will almost always be cheaper than the undiscounted one purchased, unless it's left right till the last minute to book...

TIR - failure to provide alternative format

I imagine disabled individuals could pursue legal action under the Equality Act if there was an unreasonable refusal to entertain a legitimate request for the information to be provided in an alternative, more accessible format.

TrainSplit Advance ticket refund amount less than expected

It sounds like they've been incurring costs for a while: Which I think is a bit of a crappy thing to do when it's a UK-based, family-owned business which has financially supported this forum for a long time. It's not like the fees were hidden away like some other retailers, either - so I...

TrainSplit Advance ticket refund amount less than expected

You'd be surprised at how punitive some of the rail industry charges are nowadays for the crime of searching for "too much" advance availability. It's significant enough that you could hire FTE if the cost wasn't there. The through fare was £380.20, it was still a saving of £270.10 over that...

TrainSplit Advance ticket refund amount less than expected

It's a service fee for finding splits. If you make two bookings, you need to find splits twice. This incurs RARS and journey planner costs twice. The price is clearly broken down into what actually constitutes part of the ticket price and what doesn't.

BR Fares now selling itinerary-free tickets

It's on the list to discuss and pick up at some point (for transparency it's Raileasy slowing this particular bit down)

    Change single to return ticket

I suspect the answer to this in practicality depends purely on the staff you encounter. I had success getting an X/S issued at arrival at Marylebone (the destination of my outward) once, but I chose not to leave the gateline and went direct to the excess fares window to ask the question...

Unexpected - but positive - anecdotal experiences on the railway

Avanti's staff's professionalism whilst responding to (and making arrangements with the emergency services & control for) the passenger directly in front of me who was having a suspected heart attack. Very fortuitously there was a consultant cardiologist on-board, but the response for the...

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

For the folks who prefer the classic interface... https://tickets-classic.railforums.co.uk/ (and https://classic.trainsplit.com/) have been migrated to a new technical stack and updated to the latest version of the framework they use today. There should not be any change to the experience...

Disruption at St Pancras (Possible Bomb Threat) 18/08/26

Wouldn't surprise me if something like this had happened. Obviously not a sensible place to abandon it, calling recovery and staying with the vehicle would've been a better bet... Equally, it seems a bit naff that the best way we have of responding to these threats is just to blow them up in a...
