Greater Anglia Map - Routeing Guide Question - South bound journeys via Ipswitch to Mistley and Harwich Town

I'm slightly at a loss to understand what you're missing here - is your 'get from A to Z' code currently only able to handle the case where A and Z are on the same single piece of track?!

Project Oval: TfL win DfT contract to expand contactless system to 233 rail stations by May 2024, Railcards coming to contactless payment cards

Nice to see the BBC silently correcting the story from the earlier version that said "some customers were overcharged since February"... not a substantive difference then (!)

Project Oval: TfL win DfT contract to expand contactless system to 233 rail stations by May 2024, Railcards coming to contactless payment cards

The Oyster fares site is then out of date compared to the latest caps at https://tfl.gov.uk/fares/find-fares/national-rail-fares-beyond-zone-9 which show an off peak daily cap of 35.40

SWR class 444 displaying two digit headcode - new?

Yesterday I saw SWR working 2P50 https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:L51843/2025-06-04 (forming the 1510 Haslemere to London Waterloo) on arrival at Waterloo. I was surprised to see a two digit former-Southern-Region-style headcode displaying on the matrix panels on the sides...

Something better than a flexi season for my journey?

On CrossCountry (website and app), the process of changing date/time for an Advance is basically seamless. You must of course keep the same origin and destination; you will pay more if the new one is more expensive, and you get nothing back if the new one is cheaper.

    Saint-Malo to Turin itineraries

Sorry, never came back to this thread! Thanks all for thoughts. Have gone for option 4, direct TGV St Malo to Paris then a 1+hr connection to the Turin train. And I know it's a familiar tale, apples to oranges etc, but when you consider UK train fares, being able to get a family of 4 from Paris...

Saving money by using non-obvious routes - is this legally / morally OK?

It's both! As Lord Tomlin once put it, in the House of Lords no less,

RMT order members not to load railcard discounts?

Yes, surely the only possibly reason for an organisation not doing something that it technically possibly could is "gross incompetence"...

    Fraud threat WMT

Just to make clear, I specifically meant season ticket holders unable to make the entirety of their usual return trip were told to claim - that is, using delay repay even when they hadn't travelled at all. Is that still happening at all?

    Fraud threat WMT

Sometimes, on really bad days, SWR twitter says that season ticket holders can claim delay repay. I'm sure they're not the only TOC to do so. edit the last time it was relevant to me was ages ago so I don't know for sure that they still do this...

    Saint-Malo to Turin itineraries

Seat61 says Trenitalia is not Railteam (HOTNAT), but is AJC. The only thing is, that 1720 out of Lyon is the last train of the day through that tunnel (I believe), so if it's missed...

    Saint-Malo to Turin itineraries

Looking at Saint-Malo to Turin (Torino) in a day, on a Saturday. Not for a while yet (the other side of the June timetable change), so these are based on the currently-available timetable for after the Fréjus tunnel reopens. Would welcome any thoughts on these itineraries, or others I've...

07/03/2025 Eurostar and Gare du Nord halted by WW2 bomb

I see the location is described as "en amont de" gare du nord, that is, "upstream". Whereas in UK railways, it would presumably be "down" from the terminus?

Project Oval on WMT - odd fares

The website doesn't make it especially clear what's in the cap and isn't, it just tells you when a particular day and/or journey benefitted from capping. Are you able to share the screenshot? 1739446949 There are currently no OSIs outside London. Anyone doing Datchet to Slough via Windsor will...
