As mentioned, the full cancellations were mostly due to a track obstruction so not a fair reflection on the 777. And a couple of weeks ago was during the full-fleet recall, no? This caused many a cancellation but it appears the fleet has got through that will the swelling numbers and doubled-up...

One has to assume the units would be shifted from Southport directly to Birkenhead? So a path that goes to Central and reverses would likely be "the one"?

Currently signalled out of the depot towards Bidston so it's on its way by the look of it. I think I saw the loco arrived 3/4 hours late so perhaps driver over hours and had to wait for a new one?

I've noticed of a morning there are still one or two ECS moves from Kirkdale over to Wirral lines (5C06 this morning, for example) - is this simply because the remaining 507s are taking up depot space at Birkenhead? Once they're gone, will those moves stop?

Probably a combination of ice and poor reliability, but this morning is appalling for the 777s. Got 3/4 lines practically at a standstill with trains getting sent back to depots left, right, and centre.

There are some upcoming resignalling works this weekend on Merseyrail. Seems most of the "core" (from Hunts Cross, past Sandhills into each of the Northern lines) is affected - does anyone have more detail on exactly what's changing? Just new LED units, signal moves, junction changes etc?

The trains have barely got a few weeks left before their lease ends and they become Coke cans.

There's a 6-car service just departed Moorfields towards Sandhills, 2S12. I'm too far away to see the unit numbers.

Do we have even an inkling of a date for all trackside equipment (and other steps in place - staffing?) for 8-car services being allowed past Central? And as a broader question, once 8-cars are allowed, is it expected to be an immediate switch "back" of timetables, with Southport trains...

You'd double carriage siding and depot space requirements, though. Normal day time traffic outside of the peak times really aren't that busy on Merseyrail - the 4-car 777s tend to have a decent amount of empty sears. I can't imagine the space and power requirements of perma-8-car style stock...

Passing Kirkdale earlier and I think 777004 has finally been moved? It'd been in the same spot for weeks, completely powered down and missing a wiper - is it fair to assume that's being rectified and looking to get it back in service?

The stretch from Central to Hunts Cross is still awaiting some trackside equipment to facilitate SDO on 8-car units. I'm not sure if there's any ETA on that being in place, so the Ormskirk-Hunts Cross trains will remain 4-car for now.

777004 has been in the same spot for weeks at Kirkdale depot. It looks to be completely powered down, is missing a driver’s wiper, has a “lantern” red lamp at one end… any idea what’s up for it to seem so out of service?

Over the last few months of being on the trains most weekdays, I've seen a few TMs going into the cab when there is a longer gap between stations. Not all, but a few.

The electrical interference that can be heard through the PA speakers when the train is braking would certainly suggest some kind of interference/lack of shielding somewhere in the electrics. This, however, wouldn't cause issues with the capacitive touchscreens found on pretty much all smartphones.

Where are we up to with unit acceptance? Are 035 and 053 the only ones to be tested and accepted, or are there still already-delivered units going through testing/fault-free running?

Today looks to be the first day of purely 777 usage, at least from an allocation point of view. No 507s allocated at all, though I believe they’re on standby should faults occur on the Ormskirk - Hunts Cross line.

Watching the maps it seems to be OK so far. 2-3 minute delays being picked up around the Central area but the turn times at Hall Road, Ormskirk and Headbolt should allow those to be wiped out for the return runs.

011 and 034, though not sure which way around they are. 1Z99 now on its way to Central so assuming they’ll decouple 011 and 034 and drag them back to Kirkdale. 1724000754 Seems the rescue failed. 5Y06 (presumably still the 8-car 777011 and 777034) are now in the reverse siding at Central...
