777004 has been in the same spot for weeks at Kirkdale depot. It looks to be completely powered down, is missing a driver’s wiper, has a “lantern” red lamp at one end… any idea what’s up for it to seem so out of service?

777053 moved Long Marston to Walton Sidings. Warrington, joining 777035 which is already there.

029 shows as in service on 27/8 on PTS
As far as I can see, it does not seem 777029 was in service on 27/8 (link below). I don't believe either 777029 or 777047 has entered service yet.

I believe 029 had been in use, but 047 is yet to see use.

Any idea when or its first day in service?
I can't see any record of it being in service.
I shall try and find out, two people who keep track of the units told me it had been in service when I said 029/047 were only 2 not to have entered traffic.

777047 was in the bay platform at Rock Ferry yesterday morning......it *may* have entered service on the Ellesmere Port line later in the morning from a report elsewhere.

Thanks for the information. Any idea of which platform bay it was on?

047 on 11:12 from Ellesmere Port today. Very quiet audio. Felt quite rough riding at points too. But on plus side. Very clean.

What I cannot get my head around is why there are units running around in service with broken doors when there are spare 777's parked up around the network. I took a trip on 777002 recently and it was very busy and there was one set of doors out of use which caused no end of further problems - saw someone struggle through the crowded train and miss there stop as the door was out of action and no time to get back to another! I don't see that there is any excuse to be running units around with faulty doors when there are spare units available - better to even put a 507 on the diagram if you havent got a spare 777 imo!

I was catching up with my friend the other day who is a guard at ME. I assumed these had settled down a bit now but he says the PIS faults, CCTV faults, door faults and step faults are still a daily occurrence albeit not to the point of mass cancellations like it was. I've used 777s quite a lot this week, I've seen a couple with doors taped off and locked out of use.

When I got off at Hamilton Square on Tuesday the step failed to come out at all leaving a rather large gap!

That's a very serious safety incident as it could result in death. Did you report it?

I am very surprised there isn't some sort of interlock that proves the step has deployed before the door opens. Or if there is, it's not working and needs fixed.

With regard to failures we see multiple Railtrack employees visiting the substation and points at port sunlight pretty much nightly for years so i don't think its just the trains that have been invested in poorly .

Surely if Network Rail are carrying out maintenance every night that’s the opposite of poor investment, preventative maintenance if anything.

And the fact that the points at Port Sunlight hardly ever fail (they aren’t used anymore used to be access to Lever siding) should tell you something then!

Ok i stand corrected network rail but surely after they installed completely new equipment prior to the 777 trams and their wifi fly camera coverage it should be solid and reliable by now . Alternatively network rail have a nice little scam going claim a nighttime bonus for switching things on and off then sit in the van radio on and chat to your mates doing the same on the network . One night their where 6 vans and non of them did a jot.

Does anyone know which of the 8 diagrammed Southport services are currently running as 8 carriages?

It looks as though 4 of them are scheduled to be, but does anyone know which 4

Seems that the aim is the xx18 and xx33 departures off Southport after the peaks but seems to be a few 4 cars on those jobs as well today
