    East Coast Documentary

Just seen the preview. Really do like it, just the over-use of songs does my head in a bit but I can live with it. :)

    Attempted Suicide near Cambridge

Slightly off-topic, when someone does commit suicide on the railway, who pays for Network Rail etc to come out and sort things? Is it the passenger through fare rises or is it out of the pockets of the TOCs or Network Rail? It may sound very cruel but I really don't like the idea of holding up...

I really cannot wait to see it!

He said that the engines have been around since the 1960s, not the units themselves.

    Freight Driving Apprenticeships or Experience.

Keep watching their websites' job vacancy pages. I've had a final interview for an apprenticeship with a FOC (I'm 16 and have just got all of my GCSEs) which I hopefully hear back from this week. Even if it isn't in the operations side like driving, you can always work your way up. Sean

The Railway: First Great Western on Channel 5

Really good episode last night, once again. Anyone notice the cab light being on in the middle of the Severn Tunnel? Plus, the guy who probably rang his guardian to pre-warn them of the RPO asking for his DOB annoyed me quite a lot. Also, nice to see the guy from the Beeb series at Twyford :D

Railway worker suspended after rescuing disabled woman

I know that but do stations actually have them? Sorry for any confusion

Railway worker suspended after rescuing disabled woman

Slightly OT, but do (manned) railway stations normally have track circuit clips on hand for use in emergency?

The Railway: First Great Western on Channel 5

Really really enjoyed it; I noticed the criss-cross of Mk3/Turbo shots but it didn't matter one bit. Next week will be a good one it seems - especially as it shows the guys 'up front'!

Competition 734 (In the Countryside) :: Voting

Congrats Meridian Richard; thanks to the 3 that voted for mine. A stunning shot by Richard - I voted for it myself, modern DMU traction and all that :D

The Railway: First Great Western on Channel 5

Surely there would be frequent alternative transport available (such as bus services for example) for short-distance passengers so that is why long-distance passengers are given priority because there aren't as many alternatives?

TOPS Requests (including headcodes, allocations, traction, etc) [Instructions in Post 2]

Anyone able to ID what Northern Rail 142 was on the front of 2N18 1805 Carlisle - Newcastle this evening? 142068 was on the rear. Also could anyone please ID what DBS 66s were on 0E61 1910 Carlisle Yard - Tees Yard (which ran 60 early) this evening? Thanks in advance Sean

My idea for a new TPE

Normally the 2-car 156s/142s that run on the Tyne Valley aren't standing (apart from certain services, such as Saturday late-morning services from stations toward Carlisle to the Metrocentre and the 1720 Newc - Whitehaven) but saying that they are hardly ever 'dead'.

My idea for a new TPE

I like the sound of the Tyne Valley link from the Boro to Carlisle... needs to be stopping at Metrocentre though in addition to Hexham and Haltwhistle!

Trains run by at least two operators

Could removal of the pantograph gear on a 375 improve the train's performance because it is lighter? Or would it hardly matter? Sean
