    Interesting announcement to remember water

It's a common saying that once most passengers enter a railway station, they lose all common sense - only to suddenly pick it back up once they leave their end station.

    Best Air con ?

I was sat in the middle of coach C on a 185 yesterday from Newcastle to York. 25 or 26C outside and I was cool all of the journey; I loved it! :)

I just had to force my way through the barriers at Victoria

Fair play then, I'll always get the cheapest train no matter what!!

I just had to force my way through the barriers at Victoria

Just because National Rail Enquiries gives you an itinerary, you don't HAVE (unless you have reserved seats/got an advance ticket for your train only [but even then, you could always book a later train as I describe later in this post]) to stick to it. Surely common sense takes over from there...

    FCC : Another 'worse' Title

In my opinion, Northern's service is not shoddy one bit. Yes they do have delays (especially on the Cumbrian Coast as of late) but to be fair, which TOC doesn't? Most delays are out of Northern Rail's control. Plus I don't see what the real issue is with using pacers. We all know they are loud...

Does the Rail hobby need a kick up the......

I am also 16 years old so one of the younger people on here. I have grown up right next to the Tyne Valley line all of my life and that is certainly where my interest for trains has come. I am subscribed to the Railway Magazine and I do love to read that to get the latest news - but not...

Do East Coast Edinburgh drivers sign to Doncaster?

I'm pretty sure Heaton drivers sign the Tyne Valley and WCML from Carlisle to Glasgow & Edinburgh for the autumnal diversions.

Fantasy: The longest way round from London to Edinburgh

No doubt I would like a ride on a 156 for this run. Comfortable, enjoyable and reliable. :D

The different assumptions of commuters and other travellers

    I wish...

I'm coming up to being 16 and I've applied for an engineering apprenticeship on the Tyne & Wear Metro. If I do get this, brilliant as (from what I gather) it means an almost guaranteed job at the end of it. If not I will have to do another two years of school and get A-levels (are they really as...

Franchising timetable to be outlined (was East Coast franchise to be re-let)

"If it isn't broke, don't fix it" I can guess this will just lead into another WCML fiasco.

    142087 Gets refurbished?

I was on 142087 on 21st October from Haltwhistle to Newcastle, before the RHTT was deployed on Sunday morning and we were slipping and sliding all over the place. Wasn't refurbished back then and I doubt it would be now!

Car hit by train on Newcastle-Carlisle railway line

Imagine people who are coming home from the MetroCentre back to Carlisle and can't because of the weather! No bad weather yet around Greenhead. Would stranded people get refuge at the MetroCentre for the night or something?

Car hit by train on Newcastle-Carlisle railway line

I live less than five minutes away from the crash site. Would've been 6E62 DBS intermodal. No ice or snow around so that couldn't of been the cause; it seems hard to believe this could happen because there are normally brick walls inbetween the A69 and Tyne Valley, barring a few small sections...

    EC October diversion

I live on the Tyne Valley and since 2007 at latest, GNER/NXEC/East Coast have always started early Saturday morning running 'shuttles' between NCL and EDB. Sundays are a bit later and most of these services are shuttles also. I'm really looking forward to the Mk4 drags though, certainly a first...

    Smaller bus comanys in Cumbria

If it wasn't for these companies (Telfords, Stacey's etc etc) and if it was up to Stagecoach, all of the smaller villages who rely on buses would be isolated from other places. Unfortunately some of these companies are losing contracts to the larger companies I think, therefore losing their own...

    The Tyne Valley Diversions

Hey guys, this is my first post, so emmmm... lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pAhbxAxr88 The Tyne Valley Diversions - The ECML gets shut every year, around this time of year between Newcastle and Edinburgh, for engineering work. So the NXEC HST's get diverted via Carlisle and then up to...
