Inspired to post this whilst travelling on a Class 730.
I have to say the (accessible) toilets on these units are poorly designed, with the sink being too small and the water hole being at the very edge rather than in the middle of it, meaning the floor ends up soaked when the train begins...
Has anyone else seen that viral social media video of two women running down the platform with suitcases getting to the door only to be told they can't board? Despite others boarding at that exact moment. The train was likely late to depart.
A LOT of people on social media are saying it was a...
Inspired by a recent thread on here: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/could-a-new-law-prevent-the-last-train-of-the-day-being-cancelled-and-replaced-with-a-bus.305359/
The current last train booked for passengers from Glasgow Central to Hamilton Circle is 23:17, however, there is a 23:38...
At stations like Glasgow Central, most Scotrail trains are unlocked.
My scenario is - what are your rights if a member of ticket barrier staff doesn't like you entering the platform area early because the train isn't on the board yet? Is there anywhere in the rules that say members of the...
Tomorrow, Avanti London - Glasgow services appear to be calling at Stockport. RTT says it stops for staffing reasons, however I am able to book direct tickets through the app and journey planner.
Is this a public call?
Is there anyway to do this? For a train tomorrow morning.
No point buying the ticket tonight if I don't know if travel will even be going ahead, especially with the new refund rules. No luck with the Avanti twitter team.
Upon comparing Euston-Manchester and KX-Leeds, I notice the last trains are quite different.
22:03 for Manchester and 23:33 for Leeds, how come Leeds gets a much later last train? I remember there used to be a 23:00 EUS-MAN in 2019 but has been axed.
To explain better:
I'm looking for real examples were a train has been held at a junction (usually a local train awaiting a fast one overtaking), but how far was the fast train from the junction at the time of the local train pulling up to the red signal?
Usually the fast train is running late...
Let's assume the line is blocked for whatever reason between Motherwell and Whifflet, would they be sent via Wishaw missing out Motherwell?
And if the line is blocked between Mossend Junctions and Whifflet, would they be sent further down the WCML to Polmadie sidings and reverse and via Carmyle...
Avanti appear to be running a STP return between London and Glasgow (with stops) on the 1st of August. Does anyone know why? Thanks

Is this ticket definitely valid via the ECML? Its the Off-Peak Return any permitted. I am planning on returning from Kings Cross to Edinburgh and then Scotrail over to Glasgow.
I just got paranoid because...
In terms of both miles and duration.
Mind you, it's a one-off due to engineering work. But Glasgow to London via Manchester, Stoke, Birmingham, Northampton, taking 7.5 hours.

It says BoJ is not permitted on the outward except to change trains.
Would I be able to do Glasgow - Preston, Preston - Manchester and Manchester - Euston providing I don't leave any of the stations? As...
Just wondering anyone for example who is high up in a flat or office tower etc whether they can see trains from miles away (with a zoom lens or naked eye) and what the furthest distance is?
Hi, I want to know whether using this ticket:
https://www.brfares.com/!faredetail?orig=NTN&dest=WSH&rlc=YNG&tkt=CDR
is valid changing at Cambuslang? It's 20 minutes faster to do so on the return. The Wishaw trains do not stop at Newton, and the connection at Motherwell is 30 minutes on return...
Hi, is an Off-Peak DAY Return between Glasgow and Preston valid on Scotrail from Newton to Motherwell (and vice versa) to connect with the cross-border trains?
Also, is this day return ticket valid on the 09:16 Newton to Motherwell service, and then the 09:52 Motherwell to Preston service? Or...
Was just wondering if a Ticket Examiner on a DOO service (eg Glasgow suburban) has ever been left behind at a station when they were moving between coupled sets? What would happen in that instance?
So there's a cheaper off-peak day return you can get between Glasgow and Preston for £51.70, versus a dearer £98.10 for the off peak return.
The only caveat is, it only offers the off-peak day return on trains after 9.30 whereas the off-peak return is valid on everything (the return is valid...
