According to Twitter handle @PacerPreacher the first pacer has been officially retired 142025 due to engine failure. It was due to retire in 6 days anyway. A few others go this week.

Any sign of the missing 23:00 Piccadilly to Hadfield Train which since the timetable change has left an hour gap at the time a lot of people are coming home from a night out? It was a big improvement to have half hourly throughout the evening but is very annoying this one is still missing.

Exactly so they could easily use 2 different platforms and thus avoid the issue as they would not come in joined together.

True but what I am saying is 2 different trains usually Northen and TPE

They could do more to utilise differnt platforms when one train may sit there for 20 mins yet they shunt one in and out in front of it within say 5 mins when other platforms are empty. Also one has Hadfield via Glossop on the front and is In Northern livery the other has York on the front and is in TPE livery with the TV saying York, Front Train. Always causes a bit of amusement though as people dart off last min.

This often occurs with the Hadfield and York services on platform even though one is electric and looks like a local service.

Maybe a ballast issue. I watched Extreme Trains with Chris Tarrant and going through Burma you saw the effects of no ballast and people were practically thrown from their seats :shock::shock::shock:

When they took out Gorton as a stop for most trains this did not have any effect on reducing the travel time which going via Glossop from Hadfield to Picadilly which is a mind numbing 43 mins. I hope that when the Northen Hub is finished we will benefit with faster pathing through Guide Bridge...

Increasing the 10mph, painfully slow, speed limit over the Dinting Triangle would be a good start to help timings. :evil:

The arrivals hall at VCS is a truly dreadful experience but the departures is good and well run. I don't often use it anymore but I like its central location and it's always a nice run in from the M1.

Northen Rail run to Mancester United's Ground without any issues with 3 coach 323's and Bolton's Ground with 150's etc but Ashburys station near Manchester City's ground used to close. I am unsure if it still does after Metrolink line passed the ground opened.

I am sure in the late 80's/early 90's the tunnel was split so you went through a ticket check on left side and you could walk through the tunnel on the right which had a barrier down the middle. Assume still all shut at night though. The alternative routes as already mentioned add quite a time...

A quick search on twitter reveals a less that happy passanger who ended up at Macclesfield as they could not get off at Stockport. They indicate no one was allowed to get off due to the error though not confirmed.
