Though you maybe already aware the old part the station the now the co-op.
I live in Hadfield and thus generally have to shunt up and down from Glossop before heading to Manchester. The painfully slow (10mph) Dinting triangle junction makes it seem like an eternity.
Hadfield is also now a...
I forget which station but Michael Portillo was at a request stop, on his tv show, and did a sort of slow OTT wave. Though with his liking for bright jackets the driver was never going to miss him:D
Hope all the safety issues are resolved and the ban lifted.
I hope it was not a case of corners having been cut to save money as the trips already cost upwards of £200 for primer dining with The Railway Touring Company but are they are so much better than than Compass Tours who also hire...

Not a surprise re comments made about this route late at night at the weekend. Alcohol ban, ban on being very drunk and extra security for the train.
I see that London Midland are banning any alcohol on their services leaving Liverpool after 9pm on Friday and Saturdays. Given the this route was mentioned on the anti social behaviour thread I am not surprised this along with security has been instigated...
I was once given one. I forget where but it was either by a guard or driver back in the mid 90's. Never did anything with it and I may still have it somewhere.
May have missed but could not see any mention of any Sunday increase in the Sunday service to Picadilly from Marple/New Mills Central. It is crazy that during the winter there is only a service every 2 hours. In contrast from Hadfield I enjoy an every 30 mins service arbeit from 10am till mid...
Glossop North End are just a 2 legged semi final from reaching Wembley in the FA Vase final.
Last time they were there they ran a special train. Fingers crossed this time if we make it.
Best option but most expensive is to take one of the steam trips doing the route this summer though alas due to pathing issues you have to get a service train back from Leeds.
I loved the fact you had the option of a full fresh cooked breakfast on a Saturday with MML. The price was very good value given you could take the early train from Sheffield as no peak and have a full day in London. Used it a few times back in the day as it meant you were not looking for a...
When the class 101's used to be in Piccadilly, with their engines running constantly, the air quality was appalling.
On a recent trip out of Boston, Back Bay station they say you should wait away from the platform until your train stops and you can board straight away given it's underground...
They have done that on the Marple to Manchester line on Sundays as in winter it is still an abysmal every 2 hours. However they failed to put any notices up and put it on their website it would appear. I only found out about them on NR planner. Even Northern Rail live twitter seemed to have no...
Missing out the shunt in and out of Glossop on way to Hadfield picks up nearly 10 mins as apart from the run to and from the station there is time lost for the driver changing ends and the painfully slow crossing of the top of the Dinting Triangle.
I was in London this week, Tower Hill was incredibly busy due to the Poppy display which was the reason I was there on Monday and today it was down as exit only due to crowd control. On Sunday the 18:15 slow train to Reading was rammed as well though I only went as far as H and H.
I agree a...
I see a lot issues mentioned due to this. When people have tweeted asking a response NR just said that that one person missing has an effect a number of services. It would seem they have limited contingencies if someone fails to show either through illness or stuck on a delayed service.
Comfy seat, plug socket. 2+1 seating, soft drink and a snack.
I get all the above for £15 upgrade on Virgin at the weekend and I find it very good value.
I am not bothered by any higher priced food unless it's a fresh meal cooked on board. I used to enjoy the weekend breakfast on Midland...
