Is GWR declining? In terms of:
- Upkeep of trains (as mentioned in another thread the Turbo stock is now very tired)
- Pricing (fewer good advance fares?)
- Catering (removal of buffet on IET's with the trolleys having a weaker range of products)
- Cancellations?
- Any other factors.
I...
On approximately what % of trains are revenue inspectors on? Does this vary by TOC? Only mentioning this as I only remember seeing inspectors once (near Trowbridge) despite travelling thousands of kilometers by train per year.
Do we need more? On the one occasion I did see revenue inspectors...

Would you use this train?
Do you think there is any feasibility for a Swansea to Brighton service (operated by GWR)? It would give Swansea and Cardiff direct access to stations such as Chichester, Worthing and Brighton, and provide an additional service on the already busy Bristol to Southampton stretch. Maybe not one...
Does anyone know what is going one with this train, it is not in service, and Express Sprinters do not normally pass through Dorchester?

Following on from the "Reading commuter" thread, a few people noted that commuters pressed the emergency alarm/cord when the train passed through their station. Now I am wondering how frequently these emergency alarms are pressed? Have you ever experienced someone pressing the emergency cord (or...
From previous threads on here, I have seen that there seems to be a bit of hostility towards Reading commuters, with it having often been noted that the Reading commuters are often "more in the know" about likely platform departures from Paddington, alongside typically having less luggage...
Many of you will know that there is not a direct line between the major south coast population centres of Southampton / Brighton / Portsmouth / Bournemouth & Exeter / Plymouth / Torquay / Paignton. This is not an exhaustive list. Travelling back yesterday from London Paddington to Weymouth (via...
I have always wondered what happens in this scenario. Say you purchase an advance ticket for a specified train from London Paddington to Exeter St Davids, however your connecting train e.g from Ashford International to St Pancras is significantly delayed, or cancelled, so you miss the GWR train...
Are there any plans to improve this line? This line is frequently overcrowded, and with the Bath christmas market kicking off, I can see a lot of people getting left stranded at stations. A few improvements that could be made include:
- Longer trains, which is probably more viable than:
-...
This thread is mainly concerned with the following two routes:
Weymouth to London Waterloo
Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads / Gloucester.
Please feel free to discuss the West of England line, but as I do not travel on it, I have no knowledge :)
Currently, stations particularly west of...
Does anyone know if there has been any progress with this potential route?
I thought that SWT (now SWR) were close to getting a service to Wareham/Poole up and running.
Would a line, potentially running from Dorchester, running through Bridport before re-connecting at Axminster be worthwile? It would provide a direct service between cities such as Southampton, Exeter, Winchester, Plymouth and Portsmouth without mentioning other major population centres such as...
I travel on this service frequently, and often for the whole journey (Weymouth to Bristol TM) and it has honestly got to be one of the worst routes there is.
- There are several request stops (Chetnole, Yetminster, Thornford) which a lot of the time no one will get on or off adding on several...
I know there was a magic station to get discounted fares on Southern (somewhere in London) and am just wondering if there is one on the SWT network? Thanks.
