Class 165 (Turbo) - Wessex line

Does anyone know when the class 165's are going to be cascaded onto the Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads line?

If I remember correctly not for a while yet if ever as the vast majority (if not the whole) of the Turbo cascade to the Wessex routes involves transferring 166s.

165s are to remain largely concentrated in the Thames Valley and North Downs Lines.

They are not. They will couple with 166s to provide 5 Cars on the Cardiff to Portsmouth route. All the info is in the dedicated Turbo threads but as they have grown so long and would take a lot of sorting through to find details, I don't blame you for asking in a new thread merely to get an answer rather than enter into discussions.

Class 166s will be working on Weymouth route so look out in the next couple of weeks.

However, in practice it is very likely that 165s will eventually make it onto the Weymouth route in time, and that the west Turbo fleet will probably become interchangeable in the same way that the Sprinter fleet is currently.

And the Turbos in the Thames Valley and Cotswolds to a fair degree - three-car 165s have often appeared down the years on Oxford fasts and Cotswold Line services when a 166 was not available, with two-car 165s the train of last resort in all emergencies... even runs to Hereford in place of failed HSTs.

Makes a change from the crampt three car class 158's. Wouldn't one diagram (whether that's be Cardiff to Portsmouth or Westbury to Worcester / Great Malvern) be operated with a 166 come the 3rd February when a 150 is sent North?

The 12th February date is misleading. GWR LTP planners work on fixed period dates only but the cascade plan works on intermediate dates so any of those changes have to be done via STP rather than LTP.

12th February is the start of an LTP fixed period date but it is on the 29th January that Weymouth should see the first Turbos in passenger traffic when two more diagrams cut over to Turbos, the first ones involving use of the modified door controls for use on short platforms. The following week 7 cl 150/1 units should head north.

Then on 12/02/18 further diagrams should cut over, the situation being as per the 12/02/18 LTP diagrams. The next Turbo diagram to be introduced after that is currently scheduled to be on 26/02/18.
