Oyster Extension Permits (OEPs) scrapped from May 2011

That can't be right... what if you start with a paper ticket say Twyford-BZ6, have a Zones 3/4/5/6 travelcard on Oyster, and travel Twyford to Paddington? If touching out at Paddington results in a maximum cash fare I would be inclined to refuse to touch out until they resolve the bug...?

    Connection at Reading

I have a 7 minute cross-platform change at Reading tomorrow (off the 07:39 from Paddington Platform 4 onto the 07:46 to Bournemouth Platform 3). NRE shows it as valid, and the minimum interchange time is 7 minutes, and it's cross-platform - does anyone have experience of arrivals at Reading...

Keeping tickets for expenses claims etc

They may remain property of the railway, but quite what they could do at the time if you refused to hand it over is another matter...

January 2011- National railcard on Oyster cards- THOUGHTS PLEASE!!

Unless I'm very much mistaken or misunderstood your question, this has been possible for quite some time before January this year. It's not at all well-publicised, either by the TOCs or TFL, it was 2 years after buying/renewing my railcard that I realised this was possible! It is still...

    Unpaid Fare issue

They can only make you pay for a journey you have made, so ultimately you could refuse to pay and they would have to prove beyond reasonable doubt etc etc. If you just write to them explaining, providing a copy of the ticket etc, I'm sure they will see sense. But whatever you do, don't pay...

16-25 Railcard and 1st Class Fares

Lets narrow the argument here, why do 60+ year old deserve discounted first class travel and 16-25 year olds don't? There's arguments to say the 16-25 railcard isn't fair, there should be an adult railcard etc - all well and good but a bit off-topic. I think the stereotyping is wholly...

16-25 Railcard and 1st Class Fares

Excellent. I can't see any explanation that isn't at least partially discriminatory based on age!

London Paddington (PAD) to Taunton (TAU) and Newton Abbot (NTA)

Consider the following tickets: SVS PAD-TAU (£44.00) is only valid on "services departing London Paddington (...) between 0810 and 1640 or after 1831". SOS PAD-TAU (£99.50) is valid at any time. SVS PAD-NTA (£51.00) is only valid on "services departing London Paddington (...) between 0810...

16-25 Railcard and 1st Class Fares

Just wondering why 1st class (walk-on) fares don't qualify for a 16-25 railcard discount - and whether you agree with it!

    London - Edinburgh

Looks like they dont serve dinner on any southbound evening services - what a cop out! lol Would both those services be hauled by 225s or could they be HSTs?

    London - Edinburgh

I was thinking about outward 08:00-12:25, return 18:30-23:36. Could anyone confirm that the outward would serve breakfast? are the 'selected trains' for dinner published yet? Thanks in advance!

    London - Edinburgh

Hi, I'm looking to travel to Edinburgh in July out on a Wed/Thu and return on Fri/Sat, some questions for anyone familiar with this route: - I understand you can travel with Virgin Trains via Glasgow, or with East Coast direct. We may travel first class, can anyone recommend which TOC...

TfL Replacement Buses and Oyster Prepay

If there are no oyster readers, they are effectively free to anyone with an oyster card with some credit on it. Sounds like free buses to me!

Validity Question: Paddington to Exeter Super Off Peak Single

It's pretty straightforward to me if you actually read the thread before replying :). See this quote from NFM: http://railforums.co.uk/showpost.php?p=647344&postcount=3 What we're discussing is the NFM application stating that outward travel has no restrictions for the evening peak...

Validity Question: Paddington to Exeter Super Off Peak Single

I appreciate what you're saying. I want to corroborate my findings with another source that's more publicly accessible, i.e. on the National Rail website, or as a print-out from the ticket office when buying the ticket, or by validating that the NFM program's data is considered a source of...

Validity Question: Paddington to Exeter Super Off Peak Single

True but I don't think that forms part of the contract when I buy a ticket that has restrictions, it's the restriction code here which appears to permit travel in the evening peak (where the posters etc state to the contrary).

Minimum Fare Instructions - Cubic Fastis

In cases of staff incompetence, buy ticket from the ticket machine, or board without a ticket. Rinse and repeat if necessary :)
