Validity Question: Paddington to Exeter Super Off Peak Single

Yep I'm asking if I could travel PAD-EXD during the evening 'peak' with that ticket. Does the NFM count as part of the contract in terms of looking up restrictions, or is there another source I should be referring to in terms of being contractually enforceable? As far as I can see if that...

Validity Question: Paddington to Exeter Super Off Peak Single

So does that mean I could have travelled during evening peak? :)

Validity Question: Paddington to Exeter Super Off Peak Single

Apologies - I normally would have done but was on a train at the time typing on my phone :) --- old post above --- --- new post below --- That's what I thought, it looks like they've got the directions the wrong way around. But in either case, on a multi-day return (SSR/SVR/SOR etc), why...

    Booking advances at a station

To be fair I feel for the staff working in those booths, it gives them something to occupy themselves enforcing rules like what ticket you can buy in which queue! :)

Validity Question: Paddington to Exeter Super Off Peak Single

You missed this bit: I don't see why the 'return travel' restrictions would reply to a single ticket, or the outward portion of a return?

Validity Question: Paddington to Exeter Super Off Peak Single

Looking at a Super Off Peak Single (SSS) fare London Paddington (PAD) > Exeter St Davids (EXD) or similar along the route, the validity shows OUTWARD allowing any train after morning peak or so. The RETURN section disallows evening peak, but if I bought this as a single, surely only the outward...

    Timetable Changes and Advance Tickets

If the train departs earlier or arrives later I am sure you will be allowed to travel on a later/earlier train respectively - otherwise I expect the TOC is in breach of contract.

    Student Rail Card - Mistake

Whilst technically wrong, what's the liklihood of a TOC taking action for a ticket with an alternate railcard discount applied to the ticket than the railcard you hold, if you are in fact complying with the conditions of your railcard (time validity etc) and the price of the ticket on your...

Rights when travelling with a Permit to Travel

What happens if you are paying by credit card, and have no cash - you can't obtain a permit to travel without inserting coins?

    Retention of tickets

How about you add something useful to this thread. The question is - when do you no longer need to retain your ticket. Presuming the answer is the most liberal of the possibility, "whilst you're on railway premises", then, the question is whether they have the right to request a ticket...

    Retention of tickets

Whilst true, I think ticket barriers, ticket checks, RPIs, CTAs, Penalty fares, etc etc are enough without being hassled for tickets once you've actually left the station!

    Ticket checks outside station

They usually blockade the top of the stairs, or inside the doors, they just crowd it with 20 staff which bloody irritating but they're within their rights. Not sure why they chose to do it outside... --- old post above --- --- new post below --- It was nothing personal. Just the old guard...

    Retention of tickets

I wonder when you stop needing to retain your ticket, i.e. if you are stopped with it and say you've destroyed it, is it ok? (a) When you step from the train into a non-CTA (b) When you exit the barriers, when they are taking tickets (c) When you exit the barriers, when they are open (d)...

    Ticket checks outside station

Southall --- old post above --- --- new post below --- You hadn't. The latter was applicable, no barrier, no ticket checks in the station. So if they followed me to the supermarket, it's still reasonable to ask? The overriding point of this thread is *when* are you no longer...

Splitting Tickets at stations with avoiding lines

Oh ok, my bad! Bad example... pick Castle Cary/Newbury Racecourse then?

Splitting Tickets at stations with avoiding lines

Sorry if you're not familiar with the route, but Westbury is NOT on the London-Bristol route. Currently thinking it's not valid! --- old post above --- --- new post below --- In the same stead, what about: Zone 1-6 Season BZ6 to Bracknell (or anywhere on SWT) Bracknell to Reading...

Splitting Tickets at stations with avoiding lines

What about a season ticket from Paddington to Bristol, SOS Ticket from Bristol to Taunton, travelling on a fast from Padding to Taunton via route Westbury?

    Ticket checks outside station

Please feel free to discuss amongst yourselves - but this seems to have descended into a bit of a farce and having read between the RRA, Byelaws, PF rules etc I'm happy I'm in the right. But, particularly OldTimer, if you believe differently of course please do act differently if you find...

    Ticket checks outside station

OK so from that I presume the point where the strict liability for posessing a valid ticket is quite vague then? If so I wonder what the need for a CTA is? I don't want to mention the station as it is somewhere I travel to/from regularly, and would give rise to concern on my part that such...
