Quite agree, but a check of the Oyster's serial number via phone would sort that out. But the question is how do the Conditions of Carriage apply making the ticket invalid? What if the Oyster card stops working mid-journey?

Out of interest, if an Oyster card stops working (through no fault of your own), why is it then invalid for travel? If not for Pay as you Go, for a season ticket the ticket is still on there... it just can't be read. Not much different from a faded railcard perhaps?

I understand now. So based on the current restrictions listed on the VT website, I can do this: 06:43 EUS > 07:53 BHI (Virgin Trains) 08:09 BHI > 08:59 TFC (Arriva Trains Wales) or change at BHM instead of BHI, with a SVR :)

So this is a bug that allows further travel on the SVH on another TOC's service when the easement doesn't apply to them, basically?

OK, so the railcard easement doesn't apply to a SVH, but as I'm getting a SVH as well for the return I will buy a SVR instead, so that point is moot. But that still doesn't explain why the SVH is valid on the 6:03 departure, connecting into the ATW train?

What does this mean? I can use this on the Virgin train at any time. What restricts me from using it on non-Virgin trains at any time, other than the restriction code against the ticket, which doesn't mention anything about trains to Telford or trains from Birmingham? --- old post above...

The BZ2-GTW ticket is more expensive and is routed 'NOT GATWICK EXP'. If it wasn't more expensive and was routed 'SOUTHERN ONLY' I would have used that instead as it's more straight-forward.

Have you got a source for that? Isn't that like Virgin saying they don't operate in the 'Zones' system, so a BZ2-Milton Keynes Central ticket isn't valid on their services?
