Thanks for the replies. I did think that the stag/hen/football groups might have been the reason behind the total ban I read about but if thats now been removed and a policy of sensible moderation that the majority would keep to is in place then thats good news. Happy to consume before 'the...
Its been a few years since I travelled on Eurostar, indeed it was still running from Waterloo at the time. One real advantage was you could take food and drink on board and consume your own picnic as you watched the world go by. However recent google searches produce conflicting messages...
Thanks for that very detailed reply ! I hadnt twigged I could go via Havant as the BR fare table said 'set by Southern' so the CIV ticket is a little cheaper than anytime via Havant which might be quicker but the easiest route would be to use Southern and change into Thameslink at Three...
Hi yes I appreciate there is some protection but from what I read on previous discussions I understood the CIV ticket was priced at a more generous rate than peak hour tickets whereas in my case the anytime fare is less anyway by about 10% which I appreciate isnt a huge saving
First of all thanks to the site for alerting me to the existence of CIV tickets. However the CIV ticket to LNE seems more expensive so what am I doing wrong.
As suggested I looked at BR fares and Emsworth to LNE comes up as £40.70 standard class single walk up fare. Little note says 'fare set...
Attitude has a lot to do with it. I boarded a comfortably full train at London Victoria, first seat I find is the fourth of a group of four round a table so took it. The other 3 who were not travelling together as far as I could tell got off at Clapham J. Family got on and spotted me, I was...
Thanks for that. So 2 returns on one booking and 2 singles on another and then play around on the Eurostar site to move the seat reservations then and hopefully bag a table for 4. Cheers
Hi, havent found an answer on here but I am going to travel Eurostar London to Amsterdam (2 people) and then return (4 people)
Looking at fares it seems they have a price for each leg (as do most airlines now) but I did see that if I just go for a single then the price of each leg is higher than...
50026 should be coming from Swanage to Eastleigh tomorrow hauled by 33012. Thats 0Z50. I believe the old plan was for the trip to take place today hence the existence of the 0Z33 Q path to return the 33 to Swanage. So it seems the inbound 0Z50 was updated but the 0Z33 hasnt yet unless of course...
I did a Guildford to Fratton non stop one once due to late running. Even missed out the Havant stop despite the interchange possibilities. I do wonder if skip stop is worth it though as we only reduced the lateness by 7 minutes at Fratton
Its a slightly odd situation though as its managed by South Western but served mainly by Southern. 4 per hour on SW but 10 per hour for Southern. Wonder if Suuthern chips in any funds for paint ?
One issue is that the same offence can lead to various outcomes. The driver of an Eastern European artic pulled out to overtake on a 2 lane motorway, hit my parents car, pushed them into the central reservation from which they rebounded across both lanes and ended up on the embankment facing the...
Without wishing to turn this into a pantomime oh yes they did, oh no they didnt scenario my only actual experience of this was in the early days of when the extra stations (Imperial Wharf etc) opened up which would have been 10+ years ago and I understood it was done to avoid the need to have...
They certainly did, there was even an announcement on the train to that effect. And yes they ran via Clapham J and I regarded the core as being the bit between Clapham and where it rejoins the west coast line. I have just looked at RTT and the Southern Watford J to E Croydon services do now...
Perhaps digressing and maybe a different thread but what about some of the services (on Southern) which may declassify 1st. The Eastbourne to Ashford through service is standard only but has a 1st class section in the train. Between Eastbourne and Hastings a 1st class fare is available although...
Thats great and pro active by Avanti but what happened at presumably Paddington. Wouldnt a jobsworth tell you the ticket wasnt valid as I presume it wouldnt open the barrier at Paddington. Did the helpful Avanti guard endorse your ticket as there are many cases on this forum where the innocent...
