To me it seems quite slow. 62599 was basically down to just a chassis on Wednesday (unit 313 207) yet today middle coach 71219 was only half crushed with the other driving coach 62535 still complete and awaiting its fate.
142003 in bright orange was sitting with engines running last Wednesday and visible from the Campbell Road bridge when I looked. Speculation obviously, but seems the most likely candidate
Coach 62530 from 313202 was still only part crushed Friday evening and I believe the middle coach was still whole as 313220 was still sat on the 'death row' line with one other coach visible beyond it nearer the scrap area. Doesnt seem that swift as its taken a whole week just to scrap half a...
Hi, just to let you know that from the pictures you took yesterday it is indeed coach 62954 being crushed yesterday and the other 2 coaches from unit 202 are lined up awaiting their fate.
Unless theres another shunt then unit 220 is visible from the public road and is on the same scrap line as 202 and is already anonymous apparently as the unit numbers, coach numbers and anything with a number/data on has been cut out presumably for sale to raise funds somewhere
I dont think so. I see the fully flex ticket that I bought that can be cancelled and amended as akin to the Anytime version on the railways. I assume someone more knowledgeable than me will know if the coach company (National Express in this case) has its tickets regulated in any way so that a...
Apart from the disruption, I see the coach companies have immediately hiked prices to cash in. Yesterday morning 4 people Victoria to Portsmouth on 12th May could be done for £18 or £84 fully flexible. Now its £109.20 cheapest for 4 and fully flex is £161.20. Glad I booked yesterday as soon as...
Belated update and thanks for all the advice. In the end SWR are offering advance tickets even for what I consider the morning London bound peak. Havant to St Pancras via W'loo and the underground. £20.80 each to get there during peak commute times and a real bargain £11.70 each back mid...
Yes I regularly used that HST buffet coach on the way from Uni in Bristol to Didcot. Effectively a first class upgrade for the price of a slowly drunk cup of tea
Some do try but cant have every flavour. Worst case I witnessed was a WW2 event on the Watercress where so much effort goes in by re-enactors and then the railway runs 50027 Lion on its trains. I know mk1 were post war and the line only has a couple of Bulleids so thats excusable, but the choice...
Doesnt make it a through line but I always thought that when the Bicester to Oxford bit was reopened in 1987, the Abingdon branch was still in situ I think or at least only very recently lifted so a service extended from Oxford to Abingdon might have been a sensible option as it wouldnt have...
Yes I remember the opening doors. A great idea but a real pain in the wotsit if you had spotters in the vestibules going from side to side I know.....I was one ! The smell of the brales was pretty awful too
Doesnt Eurostar get more expensive as you approach travel dates ? I booked a return to Amsterdam in standard premier back in Feb for travel early May and it was £180 return. Personally I thought that was a good price subject to French and British strikes !
Check the hovercraft option. Through fares were generally cheaper than the ferry last time I went and the bus link from Potsmouth and Southsea station isnt that onerous
Thanks for all the encouraging responses. I did get a reply from a helpful person at Eurostar who basically said no ban, just be sensible and they had the right to stop excessive amounts being taken on board. It seems the reference I saw to a ban and confiscation was missing the key words 'On...
Luckily I got a good price for Standard Premier on the way out (to Amsterdam) so not worried about the trip there. Coming back standard which actually cost more and no way could I justify premier on the way back given the price differential so was just making sure I could grab something to make...
