    Help planning Ireland trip

You should be off the boat in less than 15 minutes after docking, you shouldn't have a problem making it to Heuston.

    Help planning Ireland trip

You will have no problem taking photos once your not trespassing and even at that they won't have much of a problem with it. A new timetable starts on Sunday with some minor changes but the Galway route has quiet a few changes and increase journey times. Everything else is more less the...

Irish Rail 22000 class formation chagnes

4 car sets are not a problem on the Kerry line, at least one platform in any stations could take them. Only the Cork route could take two 4 car sets and I don't think we will see many 8 car sets. 3, 4, 6 and the odd 7 car set.

    Dublin Trams

How much training do drivers get before they can take passenger trams as from using them daily, some drivers just go for it and other are to slow and a little nervous.

Irish Rail 22000 class formation chagnes

On many 3 car services that have 190 seats, they are just slightly to small for demand so the extra 72 seats could cope with most of it so this is where the savings will come from.

Irish Rail 22000 class formation chagnes

What the problem is in many cases is 3 car trains are to small and 6 car trains are to big. Also Dublin-Rosslare can't take 6 car sets and are restricted to 3 car trains and 8 car 2800. 4 car ICR's will work on this route. Costs will be saved while keeping passengers happy. It's not...

Irish Rail 22000 class formation chagnes

All 22000 are to be changed to all 3 and 4 coach trains by the end of the year to match capacity and demand and to say costs. The 15 6 car sets (10 first class and 5 high capacity) will have two coaches removed to being them down to 4 car sets. All these coaches will be used to increase 3...

Have no idea where this crap about the Ballina brach has come from, it will not be closing at all. At the minute Ballina has major freight operation which is the only profitable side of IE. Up to 8 trains in/out daily.

Entreprise - HEP caused loco fire

230's future is important for TPWS unless they decide to swap to another loco if possible. As for the ICR's PC and HC sets out of service expect this is not long term thing, the High Capacity sets are in high demand and once September comes around they will all be required. With the current...

    (Ireland) Western Rail Corridor future?

I think at most it was 4 trains per day but that reduced to 3 a few years ago. Since January it is 2 daily. The simple reason for this is amount of manual LC. With two trains per day staff operate a split shift. When it was 3 they needed 2 separate shifts. So considerable savings being...

    (Ireland) Western Rail Corridor future?

It had a better frequency but reduced because of no demand. This line won't close as its a political line.

Entreprise - HEP caused loco fire

Open to correction but the 201's have: One main generator Head End Alternator which provides HEP, if stopped in stations for a while HEP is switched to standby mode and uses the main generator to provide reduced power to the train. At nights HEP has an external supply and not done by the...

Entreprise - HEP caused loco fire

I do to but once they come back just hope there is no problems. Your right about GM and they were told what happened yesterday could happen. 114 onboard is poor load but when you compare it to evening services from Cork, Galway and Waterford to Dublin its a very busy services. Once...

Entreprise - HEP caused loco fire

I bet that HEP was the cause, the only other locomotive fire of the 201's was 206 which HEP also caused. In summer failure rates on the Belfast service increase and the week of hot weather, air con demand would of being high + the fact that engines are getting old and HEP puts them under major...
