1000 a day or 250,000 a year for a service at the request of a local TD. This line and the Westren Rail Corrodor are breaking IE. Since the service started and the shuttle service on the line was changed actual passenger numbers on the line have fallen even further.
Its becase booked...
Average is 4 on the brach line before it join main Cork line and the numbers after that are not revelent as they are being taken off other services.

When will you be on the service becasue if its within the next 7 weeks or so you would do a direct return service from Heuston on...
In simple English the engine overloads as it has to run the train and provide HEP to the train. It puts the loco's under a great deal of stress which is why they fail a lot. To avoid this the loco are changed around often and any loco that operates the entreprise will operate on the Mark 4 on...
The Mark 4 trains are not ment to be loco hauled. They are ment to be operated by twin power cars which allows them to operate at 125mph. Irish Rail cutting costs as usual.
Faster loco are needed to allow 125mph (were due to be ordered in 2008) or the current DVT cars can be converted into...
I was told by someone that they could only do 90 so asumed they were not restriced.
The 22's can do just over 100mph but becasue of the tracks they can't go over 100mph at all. Current tracks can only take 100mph and only a small amount (mainly Cork line) of the netwrok tracks are heavier...
The 22000 have a higher speed than the NI CAF trains.
There has being intrest from rail companys in Europe. Irish Rail are the first European company to have the DMU from Rotem and a number of officals from other companys have traveld over to see the 22000 and all that.
Ukraine and...
They are having a complete rebuild, decided not to use the shells in the end.
It will most lightly be late 2012 before in passenger service. When they arrive it will take 12 weeks of commissioning and that is if there are no faults unlike 22047-22063 batch which were laying around for...
22010 and 22011 were scrapped and being rebuilt due lather this year
22033 out of service since september 2011 - until further notice
22047-22063 not all units have in service yet due to a faults which were repaired. Off top of my head around 7 sets from that batch have entered passenger...
Yes they have being withdrawan. The 5 sets spent around a year out of service in 2007-8 and 3 out of the 5 sets resumed services but were then completely withdrawn recently after they returned to service. Back then the plan was for them to be sold in 2012. Not sure what the latest is.
The line may reopen under community rail partnership, supported by Iarnrod Eirrean. Check Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/367387502018/
but don't get to excited as Irish Rail have put nothing in writing and until that happens the line will not reopen.
Irish Rail only publish the number of passengers who use the rail line such as Dublin-Cork or Dublin-Galway etc. The Belfast line is one of the least used in passenger terms which is no suprise.
22000 should be on all Rosslare services soon. A number of sets entered passenger service over the last few weeks with further over the next few weeks and the final 2 sets scheduled for lather this year but this is not confirmed.
