Entreprise - HEP caused loco fire

Yesterday on the Belfast-Dublin route it was a day to forget. 8208 failed in Connolly before working the 16.50 to Belfast, no spare locomotive, 4 car 2900 replaced it. 230 had an engine fire just north of Newry while working the 18.05 to Dublin, HEP caused quiet a blaze. Not known yet if...

    Anything to complain about?

You have plenty to complain about and a full refund should be on the cards. Thats the type of service we provide over in Ireland but without refunds and I would of expected much more from a German rail operator.

    New Iarnród Éireann/Irish Rail logo

The new logo was applied to the Beflast timetable before it went to print until it was realised and withdrawn from it. You can't calll Irishrail.ie with a green line a logo can you?

    New Iarnród Éireann/Irish Rail logo

There will be no logo seen in the North until some of the 201's that are owned by Irish Rail all but two get painted into it which won't be for a long while. Some will be left without it but of course they will make a visit to NI at some stage. If they want to protest let them do it in the...

    New Iarnród Éireann/Irish Rail logo

So Irish Rail are not allowed use the flag of the country they serve because it will upset the few Brits around Belfast, I have never read such bull**** here until now. So if it upsets the few Brits that see it so be it, maybe they should ask themselves if they are in the Republic and have such...

    Irish Intercity

There is a Buffet on some of the ICR, now the peak services have full meal service and while the "so called" first class offering is being upgraded its still noting special. Roads and coaches have improved but something that people don't know is that Aircoach are deep in the red and...

    New Iarnród Éireann/Irish Rail logo

The new logo looks well on the Mark 4's, I wasn't the biggest fan of it but it looks well on the DVT.

    New 22k not being used

The while ICR fleet is being used, these 21 units are rotated in and out of services to cut down on maintenance costs which is saving the company over 3 million a year as many of the older sets are in need of maintenance overhaul and it doesn't come cheap and they can't afford to do all of them...

Help with planning an Irish weekend

THe Westren Rail Carridor is the only line with a secure future, not a hope of it closing. I wouldn't bother with it as it would be a waste of you time and money. Very low speed. Many people call it Wasted Rail Corridor.

Irish Rail draft 2013 timetables - public consultation process underway

The Waterford schedule published says a lot about IE and Waterford line. I don't know why the line has being cleared for 100mph a good part of it when there is no beneift. Any time reduction is between Heuston-Kildare and any extra time added to Thomastown-Waterford. Would be great if...

First MK3 Gen Van went into service on the Enterprise 10.9.12

They 5th Enterprise carrage was removed from the trains around 3 years ago due to falling passenger numbers. The current sets have had no capacity change since the EGV went on them. There is no platforms issues since the EGV are now operating however I am almost certain (will need to check)...

First MK3 Gen Van went into service on the Enterprise 10.9.12

There was talk of a few of the PP sets being kept for Belfast services. Think it was €45,000 to refub each carriage and bring them up with current regulations for access for wheelchair passengers etc. A tender was issued recently for them to be scrapped at there current locations.

    The state of Irish railways

We should discuess this early next year, currently late Jan 2013 when there will be big changes accross the network Cork and Galway service will see major changes as will Waterford to an extent. Sligo services could see a slight reduction as was leaked to media today but nothing major.

    The state of Irish railways

Because you have two company's and none will take any responsibility for the line. You have a limit of 90mph in NI, and a very congested line North of Dublin. Both company's can't agree on anything and for any sort of developments to take place you need money which both don't have and some...
