The other good thing about the 22000 is that most seats are arranged in groups of four around tables and all seats line up with the windows. They are the complete opposite of the Pendolino!
Those & the new CAF trains in Northern Ireland are both very attractive units & would make a good DMU replacement for over here.
NIR Caf trains were tested at a top speed of 108mph when arrived from Spain and are restricted to 90mph on the mainline. I'm aware of the 22's being allowed to do 100mph on the mainline but I haven't heard any reports of a 22 clocking 108mph during test....
How do you make out that the MkIV can run at 125mph if the loco can only do 100? How would this have ever been founded out with a 100mph loco?
It's perfectly possible to design something to go faster than it can actually be hauled. You certainly don't need to test it at that speed to know if it can run at 125mph.
