Really?! Can you post a pic of same, and the date when it was sent? Obviously, please be sure to obscure any name or ID info.

Longest distance a road uses an abandoned railway alignment?

Just how far does the A66 now follow a former railway alignment up in the Lake District?

Lumo running train with no toilets

That wouldn't happen on a departure from London Paddington!

My son has just received a fine to be paid in full of £3115 in 14 days.

The unpaid fare, if just for a single journey from Gloucester to Cheltenham Spa, is £6.30 (adult) or £3.15 (child, i.e. under 16). Even a first class annual season ticket between the two stations wouldn't be that much. Something doesn't seem to quite add up.

    Penalty Fare Procedural Error

Question... Where's the next stop after Potters Bar on a Northbound train at or around 0834 on a Monday morning? Won't be Welwyn Garden City, will it?

    Selby-York

Righto! Can get itineraries offered by NRE from Selby to York, with a single 13 minute change at Leeds, priced at £10.10, which just happens to be the Anytime Day Single fare from Selby to York, i.e. route 'Any Permitted', and doesn't seem to be a combination of tickets. What's going on? Is...

    Selby-York

Welcome to the forum! How frequently will you be travelling between Leeds and York? A standard 7 day season ticket is £75.70, or £59.10 if restricted to travelling on Northern Only.

The Avanti journey check (weblink) now looks to be saying that the line has re-opened? No doubt there'll be some residual delays. Extract...

Derailment near Llangennech, Carmarthenshire (2020), legal action.

Well, 446,000 litres (of spilt fuel) has to be at least 330 tons in weight alone, hasn't it, maybe more than that? Several tankers!

    24th August: Metroland

'Metroland' is also being featured on tonight's repeated episode (Series 1 Episode 5) of "The Architecture the Railways Built", on BBC4 TV, a little earlier at 7.00 p.m. on Monday 24th August 2026.

    Crewe blockade?

Why couldn't WMR trains temporarily not call at Crewe and just operate otherwise as normal between Liverpool Lime Street and Birmingham New Street? Are there potential pathing issues?

    Long-distance tickets in the 1960s

Wouldn't 'Edmondson' type tickets still have been routinely used for long distance journeys wholly within Great Britain in the 1960s

    The Merstham Tunnel mystery 24/09/1905

So, what was the upshot of this? Was anyone ever convicted of the murder of Miss Mary Sophia Money? Or was a verdict of suicide returned? Believe the coroner's jury was unable to make any determination other than an open verdict, i.e. that she'd died of severe injuries caused by a train...

Plymouth to Edinburgh train cancelled this morning by XC

Believe that by travelling via London, the OP got to Newcastle at around 1440, so around the exact same time that they were due to arrive there, had XC been operating (via Birmingham New St).

Penalty Fare Notice - Wrong Name noted by Inspector

@TrainRider43 . Welcome to the forum. Are you able to upload a pic of the Penalty Fare Notice? If so, please be sure to obscure (or otherwise cover up) any name and address and/or ID/reference number showing. Also, where/when on the LNWR network were you stopped? Might be worth appealing, but...

    Extending a 16-17 Saver

If you mean no later than the day before her 18th birthday, that's fine, and it'll be valid for one further year from date of purchase. Change was effective 17th August 2026. Doesn't matter that an existing 16-17 Saver railcard is held and that the two may overlap...

    A rail fans from China

@HXD1D. Welcome to the forum. That's in the West Midlands area, near Birmingham, on a section of railway line heading from Gloucester located midway between Bromsgrove and Barnt Green stations. Steep 1 in 37 gradient! A quick look at the Realtimetrains website suggests a lot of freight trains...

Plymouth to Edinburgh train cancelled this morning by XC

Assume you're now going for the 0900 (GWR) from Bristol Temple Meads to London Paddington. As you say, possibly no actual overall delay for your journey to Newcastle, although the onward connection (1130 LNER London Kings Cross to Newcastle, arrives 1411) could be busy, albeit if that's the one...
