    Rugby League

Actually was 78-8. Bit of a gulf developing now between those teams at the top, and those at the bottom, of the Championship, and there's been several blowout results already. London Broncos breezed past mid-table North Wales Crusaders 106-18 yesterday, with Jimmy Meadows scoring a club record...

    Fare evasions - Invalid railcard

@lillychester. Will inspection of your ticket purchasing history show any other instances of inappropriately discounted tickets being purchased (and used) since whenever it was that the old 26-30 railcard expired? This *may* end up increasing what you have to pay. A single, one-way, Anytime Day...

    Lumo West Coast fares

Surely these Off Peak tickets ("route Lumo STG only") are not valid if arriving London before 1000 Mon-Thurs, but afterwards or on Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays or Bank Holidays would be fine?

Is a 5 minute minimum connection time too unrealistic even at smaller stations?

Thought we were talking about smaller statikns with five minute minimum connection times? Notwithstanding, which is arguably the busiest "smaller" station on the GB network with a 5 minute MCT, where that might still not be enough at certain times?

Quickest way from Southampton Airport to Portsmouth & Southsea station?

How much would a taxi be, for a twenty mile / half hour journey?

    General Knowledge Quiz

Just how heavy was the one in Sunderland, compared with, say, the Forth Rail Bridge which had been opened back in 1890?

What's up with the WCML today? (25/02)

Wasn't there a failed train somewhere near Stafford earlier today (think I heard this mentioned on the BBC 'Radio 5 Live' traffic news), if so, was that one of those already mentioned upthread?

    Greater Anglia Penalty Fare

Looks like the OP has travelled beyond the validity of their Advance Single ticket held (Ipswich -> Stratford). So, what details should have been shown on any PFN, and what amount(s) should the OP have actually been requested to pay, if not the £57.30?

    Senior persons railcard

That's a Frequently Asked Question. No. You cannot travel on discounted tickets until you have received your Railcard. You have to sign it anyway, which you can't do, if you haven't received it.

Deansgate station changed to ‘Olivia Deansgate’

Originally opening as 'Knot Mill and Deansgate' back in July 1849.

Deansgate station changed to ‘Olivia Deansgate’

AFAIK, Deansgate (railway station) has been officially referred to / named as 'Deansgate' ever since May 1971, hasn't it?

    What happened to Request stops?

And Etruria has been (permanently) closed for a couple of decades now.

Early Days of Rail - Poor Rate

Nope. Just ignorance. Simply hadn't heard of the term before. Understanding context is important to avoiding misinterpretation.

Things in living memory which seem very anachronistic now

No. That was one of the posts proving that they're still a thing. :)

Things in living memory which seem very anachronistic now

Quite possibly. Think we've now, more-or-less, disproved that roadside "check points" are entirely only a thing of the past.

Euston - Kyle of Lochalsh 1980 Great Railway Journeys - Michael Palin

Believe the overnight stop, after Mr. Palin takes a cab ride on a HST up from Newcastle to Edinburgh via Berwick/ECML, was at one of the big railway hotels in the Central Edinburgh area, before he then continues up from Edinburgh Waverley to Inverness the following morning. The route mentioned...

Early Days of Rail - Poor Rate

So, what exactly was a "Poor rate"? Some welfare-related / poor relief levy Imposed on property owners by a local parish, ostensibly to pay for the cost of alleviating poverty in the area?

What can i do if i have an overnight wait between trains (e.g. Newcastle to Penzance, booked via CrossCountry's website, departing the afternoon)

@SMRT Trains. How late today are you planning on departing? Anything later than 1440 from Newcastle is likely to be too late. Bear in mind that there'll be extended journey times today as there's RRBs operating between Tiverton Parkway and Plymouth.

    Refused Taxi During Disruption

Are you essentially shifting the cost and responsibility of the OP being stranded short of their intended destination back on to the passenger, even if there was no "Do not travel" warning in place at the time? (Different matter, perhaps, if there was?)
