I returned from London on Saturday to Doncaster, but used Liverpool Street. The forums ticket site had the cheapest option, priced ironically with EMR as we were on a Norwich service out of Ely. The LNER train could easily have covered all passengers in a single carriage for the numbers...
I don't know if this is still the case, but from searching on here - I noticed the following was posted a couple of years ago (swapped on the first run, but then the next 3 in both directions are full route runs 2 from Wick and 1 from Inverness).
The FNL timetable is confusing me too. For...
It is the same the weekend before as well (7th and 8th of March). I am travelling from Custom House (Excel) and was going to change at Farringdon. Looks like Tottenham Court Road and Northern Line (or walk) towards Kings Cross
Being discussed here https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/c-f-booth-in-rotherham-goes-into-administration.297499/#post-7637765
As I understand it, it is the death of Ken Booth and the family wanting to sell the business (and land) as against a loss of trading.
Bridge 42 is just outside of Grosmont station as I understand it. So yes, nothing between the MPD and the station, or onwards to Whitby. I believe they may have had an interim way of working prior to Christmas (not certain), maybe single train over it.
If you look at the class 91 retirement thread (https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/lner-class-91-what-are-the-retirement-plans.292869/page-9) you will see it has been out yesterday and today, and failed twice. Yesterday through an issue with the DVT at Leeds and then this morning with the 91...
Thanks for the details!
Looks like the thunderbird will attach to the front (in Shipley) and I assume pull it to Skipton where it can then reverse and change ends to return to Neville Hill
To add to this, 3A10 has broken down again at Shipley this morning (the triangle routes look fun). From what I can see (using RTT) it looks like 91101 is picking things up (shown on RTT as 1D12)
Looks to no be moving (following a Plymouth to Penzance), but I would guess both are running with speed restrictions. Similar to a couple of services heading the other way as well.
Others will know better, but I would imagine 2 track railway south of Bedford (meaning pathed alongside Thameslink) plus a number of non-standard diversions further North including Oakham prior to reversal at Leicester
Just looked on a booking engine that references "last minute" options (others available) and nothing showing for this afternoon direct to Paris. Only way to get there tonight would be via Amsterdam at a cost of nearly £1,500. Plenty of changes options (including Casablanca) that would then get...
Back in the 80s there were sleepers to both. I think more in part the last Leeds train was HST formed of the last Aberdeen to London, getting it back to Neville Hill. Now the 800 simply goes to Bounds Green.
Nail and head! It feels like the South Yorkshire version of Tees Valley, swap Ben Houchen for Ros Jones. As someone who would benefit, less than a mile from the airport, it would be great for the options. However, NOT at the costs of paying a supplement year in and year out on council tax...
