"Well it was only the one set that failed yesterday so 164 threw the first hissy fit then 145 joined in was in a particularly hard place to recover having to evac two trains to allow the rescue to happen didn't...
Normally the stopping services between Sheffield and Adwick are provided by services that run through on 1 headcode. However, 2R06 (06.27 from Sheffield) terminates on platform 8 in Doncaster before then forming 2R93 from Doncaster to Adwick. I am sure in the past it used to be a through...
They do sometimes. I was travelling the opposite way from Doncaster and as we approached Sheffield the guard advised us to swap if we wanted catering. I was fine with the quieter area, but, 2 trolleys joined at Sheffield so we were OK.
I would add, things can also impact the roads and you can end up in a similar (or worse situation). The A1 was shut for a number of hours earlier this week following a fatal incident (pedestrian hit by a truck) and whilst the police will try (eventually) and release trapped traffic if you are...
There are also a couple of diverts down the Lincoln line. 2 hull trains plus the 2010 off Leeds. I assume some of the South bound LNER services have London crew who don't sign the joint line
At a guess Noblethorpe and Dormer Green would fall into this category being on the ECML between Doncaster and York (manned by the same gatekeeper I believe). Think all the others in that area are now barriers.
Looks like it is cancelled again tonight, there is a path in for what I believe would be thunderbird tomorrow morning from Newark. Nothing new though for return to Neville Hill tomorrow.
Must say, I agree with your comments.
Back on topic, there is also the 51 (Doncaster to Norton) in South Yorkshire that will also be affected (Sunday's only). Gives an extra couple of days, prior to next potential services. I wonder if First will be asked to step in, given they operate the...
Only the 1. I think the previous one was removed by mods as nothing official had been announced. Known by those working in that area obviously, but nothing further at the time. I only knew as my wife works within projects in that area.
Plus, I would add similar for the Cross Country at South Kirkby junction. I recognise the regulation to try and ensure any late running Cross Country can claw its slot back at Leeds, but sometimes it feels like the Northern would have been in Leeds before the late Cross Country, again impacting...
Yes - especially services around 8 in a morning and in the afternoon around 5 would be very much full to capacity, on 331's (including standing). At a guess, you go back to 331's, then you would lose the acceleration benefit back to extended dwells at stations.
There is similar on a Sunday (not looked on Saturday). In a few weeks I am returning on the 11.43 to York on Sunday morning which is also P10 (having come in from the depot).
