What is the position if you are boarding a RRB at a station with no ticketing facilities, for example Heart of Wales line , and want to purchase a ticket for the journey?
I was on TFW train at Hereford a couple of years ago and the couple opposite me had a Authority to Travel due to some delays, issued at Shrewsbury, on A4 paper.
As it turned out, there were earlier train(s) for which did stop at the split points so I had no reservation using them . I was actually given a print out of this & I wonder that if 14.2 had not been met, would it be sufficient defence if challenged ,see attached. The journey in the event was...
Yesterday ,26/07//2024, I made a return trip from Leominster to Llandudno , purchased with split tickets , using the this Forum site . All 3 were Anytime Day Returns splitting at Craven Arms, & Gobowen.
When at Llandudno I was ready to return before my planned timing so I checked at the ticket...
It would very unusual not to hear the " mind the gap" or "mind the large step" on any journey in my neck of the woods , ie Hereford & its radiating lines plus Cambrian & Heart of Wales.
Last time I was in Switzerland they had that system on some lines . Button on the platform and on the trains for getting off . I was advised at the hotel how it operated
Update:- I emailed TFW Customer relations ( customer.relations@tfwrail.wales ) and the reply confirmed I could claim a full refund for tickets purchased at TFW ticket offices, vending machines or on TFW trains at any TFW ticket office , within 28 days from the tickets validity. Or send the...
A few months ago I asked a member of the onboard staff on the Cambrian line if anybody presented a Promise to pay ticket when wanting to pay onboard , answer , virtually nobody. Staff just seem to issue tickets when requested .
I called at Hereford Station and had a very interesting discussion with the TFW booking office staff who insisted I should make a Delay Repay claim , even when I pointed out the relevant National rail conditions F 30.1. They couldn't get their head round that I could get a full refund even...
Planned travel from Bucknell (BUK) on the 12:06 to LLandovery (LLV) today , returning later in the afternoon. Anytime Day Return Ticket purchased on the train as no facilities at Bucknell station. Due to late running of train from Llanelli (LLE) we were held for 44min at Knighton . I bailed...
I used Holmes Chapel station last week and having arrived in plenty of time to catch the train to Crewe, I has a look round I found I could walk from the car park to the platform via the lockers ,and not pass any Ticket vending machine or any penalty fare notice. I agree that the ticket vending...
I know from working in the motor industry , that a new fuel tank has no handling issues but any that have had or contain fuel are very carefully handled due to the fire and/or explosion risks . Ones that have contained fuel but have been drained are more dangerous. We used to internally steam...
I have asked for the taxi fare from West Midland trains and Transport for Wales when the train was late making me miss the last bus home from Hereford . So far they have paid out as an ex Gracie payment , I having contacted Customer services.
Most of the time over the last few years I have used the line its been a single 153 , including a couple of weeks ago. I would add that I usually use 09:39 from Bucknell down to LLanelli if it makes a difference
I find that if I am in an unfamiliar building or station I tend to be concentrating on navigating the area, and have sort of tunnel vision, anything outside that zone, including signage , is blanked out . It is easy to just not see some of these notices.
Some years ago, during Virgin Franchise I went to Bletchley Park from Hereford, via Birmingham New Street and Milton Keynes, using a ticket marked only valid via Leamington Spa. On the way back I got to Milton Keynes a few mins earlier than planned and there was a Virgin Train coming in &...
I am fortunate that Hereford County Hospital still issues a Battery card with hearing aids, but I can see them disappearing shortly with a drive to cut costs etc.
