I have on a couple of occasions travelled via Shrewsbury BHM to HFD when WMR trains cancelled at short notice last year , on advise from staff at BHM . Also walked over to Moor St instead, depending on timings of alternative trains.

Having used that service to travel up to the Ffestiniog over a number of years , the school children usually go where is space with no reserved areas

I don't think the general public , especially none rail users, understands that trains are not "driven" at speeds controlled by line of clear sight and pull up in that distance , as are motor vehicles, nor can they stop in a similar fashion.

I was on an evening train to Hereford just before the new station at Bromsgrove opened and we stopped a whole train length passed the platforms .We backed up after a while, to let passengers on & off. It was winter so not sure if it was wet/ leaves on the line etc.

I wonder how the passenger loading compares?

I noticed these stickers around various parts of the rail and the opening bridge when walking over the rail bridge over the Mawddach on Monday Are they something to do with alignment of the bridge structure. I know there is work being carried out at the moment.
