This reminded me of of work colleague who used to be in the Royal Marines. He told of a torpedo firing exercise off the coast of Greenland. They fired a torpedo at an iceberg. The torpedo hit the sloping edge of the iceberg, went up out of...
Last night my LED landing light bulb turned on even though the wall switch was switched off. It didn’t light at full brightness, but a dull glow. Turning the light switch on resulted in normal brightness. Turning it off it went back to dull glow, not off. After a few minutes the glow subsided...
I have two Alexa devices, an Alexa Echo in the lounge and an Alexa Echo Dot in the bedroom. Both of them suffer an intermittent problem, but not at the same time.
Basically they don’t respond to voice commands. They don’t even light up. The microphone is not muted. Pressing any button on the...
Some time ago I asked if drivers could implement their own speed restrictions if they deemed conditions warranted it. I now have another question.
Are there any laid down rules as to when drivers can or can’t sound the horn? Obviously I don’t mean as a warning, but maybe as an acknowledgment to...
In the 'Other Sport' thread I posted about the BBC ceasing production of 'A Question of Sport'. I'm now posting this here as I think it goes beyond sport.
For 50 years A Question of Sport was very popular viewing. Even if you weren't particularly interested in sport it was an entertaining half...
Hello. For those who have a Ford with the Sync 3 mapping software.
I have a 4 year Old Ford Kuga. Last year there was an update for the Sync 3 + mapping so I did it with no problems. There is now another update available but I’m having trouble.
To do the update first you confirm there’s an...
Apologies if this is in the wrong section.
If visibility should suddenly deteriorate, for example really thick mist or fog or even a blizzard, can train drivers take it upon themselves to slow down?
If not, why not, and if so how much would they need to explain for their actions and would...
This thread will be a little controversial. Some on here will agree with me, many others will be sharpening the daggers. No matter, it has to be said.
Cats…… Or to be more accurate cat sh*t…….
My lawns (and my next door neighbours) seem to be a cat’s toilet. Most mornings I’ll find the dreaded...
Just an observation on Real Time Trains re: Rugeley Trent Valley.
As HS2 is often touted as helping to get more freight onto the West Coast Main Line, if a problem with the WCML is over capacity then why doesn’t more freight run at night? A quick look on Real Time Trains shows only a handful of...
We have Threads on Football. Cricket, Rugby etc..... how about one for the more minority or lesser talked about sports? Post them here.....
I'll start...... Athletics
I used to be really interested watching athletics on television in the days of Coe, Ovett, Cram & Daley Thompson etc. Now I...
Can someone please help. My computer knowledge is sadly lacking.
Currently in Italy. Each time I search Google everything comes up in the Italian language. I can understand why that is. I’m in Italy.
If I put in a search for Google UK then Google UK appears. It's all in English. But if I then...
Could someone please answer me a simple question?
Can you view, test drive, purchase and drive away a car all within a few hours (same day) from a car dealership?
Can all the necessary forms and insurance be completed?
Thank you
I'm really getting fed up with the constant headlining news coverage concerning the allegations being made against an un-named BBC presenter.
That is not fed up with the seriousness of the allegations, but simply because it's a BBC presenter, as if that makes it more serious.
At last someone has seen sense and scrapped plans for future Smart Motorways.
Unfortunately existing ones will remain, plus those nearing completion.
Never should have been allowed in the first place.

This is not in defence, I did it, I accept it.
Received a speeding letter this morning. Doing 36mph in a 30mph zone. It was on the A5 at Corwen North Wales driving back from a few days in Anglesey. I’ve driven this road many times but not for a few years.
What is making me mad inside is that...
Was round at a friends house last night watching the football.
He has a large curved screen television. To put it mildly the picture quality was awful. Unless you sat directly square on to the screen the screen brightness varied immensely. Bright at the outsides and much darker towards the...
After many months/years it appears there will at last be a UK/EU Brexit Trade Deal. This has to be positive news.
I rarely get into politics, but what’s the betting that no matter what the details of the trade deal are, the Labour Party will say it’s a bad deal? Just for once why can’t...
It’s one thing when you know the trains aren’t running, but when they don’t run when they should…….
The public aren’t interested in the why’s or wherefore, they just want a train.

I’ve noticed that throughout the day there is a ‘Driver Only Operated’ Class 323 EMU which travels back & forth between Crewe and Nuneaton. Why is this? One journey here:
