I have a ticket for Euston-Crewe
I now have to travel to Holmes Chapel, changing at Crewe
Journey would now be Euston-Crewe-Holmes Chapel
If all is on time I have around 10 minutes for the connecting service, just enough time to collect or buy a ticket at Crewe and get back for my train. No...
A side discussion prompted by the Online Network Railcard thread.
I'd love to pay £30 and have 1/3 discount on off-peak travel throughout the North West.
Why do we allow this perk in the South East and nowhere else in the country?
Problem now solved, but may occur again, so posting for ideas.
I have advanced tickets for one adult and one child with a FF Railcard discount for Saturday from Goostrey to Manchester (+ returns). There was a chance another adult was going to join us and, as advances were still available I...
I'm hoping to travel from Holmes Chapel to Manchester Airport (break) then onto Piccadilly, before returning later the same day.
I'm assuming that my ticket will be valid via the airport and to break the journey there on the outbound leg? There's no break on the return.
I found this lurking at the end of a (useless) response from Virgin Customer Services:
Any opinions expressed in this email message are those of the sender and do not represent those of Virgin Trains or affiliated Companies in any way and reliance should not be placed upon its contents...
I need to make the return trip next Saturday, arriving 16h30, leaving around 20h00 (attending the Football @ Tranmere).
Any ideas for a cheaper ticket that the £14.90 cheap day return, or a nice outbound run, other then Goostrey-Crewe-Chester-Rock Ferry?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
Coming back from the Man City game tonight on the Chester train, the guard makes a ticket sweep leaving Stockport. Guy behind me, who was on the train as I boarded at Piccadilly, asks for a Single from Stockport. Couple of blokes ahead of me, who I recognised from the trip in earlier in the...
I'm booking some advances from Goostrey-Manchester this Saturday.
The NR site has the following warning by the services
I don't see how this affects my Crewe-Manchester train. Any ideas?
Checking my tickets for travel tomorrow, I noticed a coupon for my journey from Goostrey to Crewe. This is new. Obviously, I have a Mandatory Reservation from Crewe to Euston on an advance, but never on the connection before.
Also annoying, as I sometimes get an earlier train to visit Crewe...
Virgin have started an extended promotion for MCFC "Cityzens". Expires at the end of August 2016.
Irrespective of your footballing affiliations, £35 gets you 25% off all off-peak advances (inc First) for up to two people travelling together.
For your 25% you do sacrifice any changes or...
I was just going to throw this away. I thought I'd post it here on the off chance that anyone would like it. PM me if you do.

I had a trip booked tomorrow from Crewe to London. Out in 1st on an early train and a comfy seat back in the declassified 18:57 to Manchester.
Call at 5pm to say my course was cancelled.
Outbound was an Advance, return was a Virgin 1/2 Single.
I managed to change the Advance for...
I want to take the train to Manchester this Saturday and return on Sunday, having spent the night in town. There are two of us travelling.
There are no period returns - only day returns and singles. Singles are £10 each each - £40 for two for the return trip!
Buying two Duo tickets @...
I have a £19.50 RTV from Virgin as a result of a delay into London this week.
Downside is that most of my personal travel is local and costs < £19, even when travalling with the Kids on a Railcard.
One way we may be able to blow the voucher is by using a Wayfarer. Is there any reason why...
Many people will have missed the Criminal Courts Charge being introduced from April.
This means that an additional £150 will be added to all penalties in the Magistrates' Court. For someone earning £300/week, pleading guilty to a most basic fare evasion matter, the likely outcome will be as...
I'm trying to price up tickets for this trip, leaving on the afternoon in both cases. I'd like a little flexibility if possible, though this seems a little hard to find.
There is this off-peak return http://www.brfares.com/#faredetail?orig=GTR&dest=WDM&tkt=SVR
which seems to be valid for...
Help and advice for the routing and ticket for this, please.
I want to take the train to the airport this Sunday 28/9.
I can see an any permitted fare single £10.90 on BR Fares.
The National Rail site shows a fare of £11.60 for a route via Stockport, but can't see me the ticket.
Question -...
Northern have this useful page on their site.
Unfortunately they have somehow omitted to tell me how to get my 50% refund of the fare paid.
Any idea of the process?
(Fuming as my train from Crewe was turned around at Sandbach and they failed to tell any of the waiting passengers to...
Trying to price this up on National Rail Site - it won't come up with what I think is should be the right pricing.
Looking at the Routing Guide, Goostrey is in the Wilmslow (and Crewe) group.
Liverpool to Wilmslow is on Map NO and NR, which are both via Manchester.
So.... why doesn't...
