Legend, thanks for replying so quickly. Just a q...I need to arrive in Manchester at about 9.30 so I'm pretty sure I'll be travelling during peak, but not on Virgin...will it matter that I'm using an Off-Peak return to travel?

I'm going to Liverpool tonight, buying an off-peak return from London Euston. Tomorrow I'm going to Manchester from Liverpool, buying an anytime day-return. In the evening, I'm returning to London. Can I do this journey with my two unused return portions straight from Manchester down to Euston...

As far as I was aware Virgin only stop at Crewe on Euston-Lime St services during the evening and on some peak services. Otherwise it's just Runcorn and Stafford in between, going both North and South. And for all you saying a change is better than a skimpy direct service, try having relatives...

I did consider the ethics, but there was nothing in place to deter me from getting as many tickets as I could in the time they were available, and as mentioned, I'm only travelling on one - the other tickets have gone to a bunch of friends who (for the purposes of this anecdote) couldn't access...

I managed to get 20 tickets! And share them out amongst friends, of course. Just sat there for 5 minutes at 9 o'clock entering MIRROR and doing a bit of maths...
