Would make the most sense to see it on the East Coast. Maybe a future one.
A late/early year Euston to kings cross like they did with 87002 a few years ago would be nice, I only say early late so to make the hotels in London affordable

They are rostered
Aren't they heritage enough

Yes. Or a fully east coast one like York to Edinburgh or Kings Cross to Newcastle.
Or given LSL's patron's love of Scotland how about a Scottish land cruise over some "new" electrified route ? Something like Edinburgh - Dumbarton - Ayr - Dunblane - Edinburgh. Use a diesel to drag the stock off and on Bo'ness but top and tail 87 and 89 would be pretty awsome.

DEPARTING FROM

Crewe, Warrington Bank Quay, Wigan North Western, Preston
£174 for a window seat is a bit too steep for me.
That'd be the next 5 or 6 Saturday's worth of trains for me.

Aha; that answers my question about 37402's next move now that it is back in traffic.

Rare for a LSL tour starting from Crewe with MK1s, they usually keep them for the kettles

We are on the Sussex Coast Statesman tomorrow (I hope this is the right group as RTT has it as Locomotive Services - first time posting on this forum) but with all the incidents on the MML near Elstree and at Lewes I do wonder if it is going to run - I can imagine some very stressed train managers right now

Yes, Intercity, Statesman, Saphos, and Midland Pullman are all LSL brands.
I imagine they are very much trying to figure out what route they can divert by
Thank you for that information, Also on the Saphos Welsh Marches later this month which is supposed to be steam.....
Looking at Open train times maps there does not seem to be much other then reversing via Brighton...but we will see
we love the trips, they are our equivelent of cruises which a lot of retired people seem to do (future outlaws always seem to be one one) but boat trips don't appeal to us - and we love trains.

I haven't been closely following this thread, but if trying to divert around the incident area at Lewes, and keep the lead engine leading, you could run like so:

Haywards Heath
Keynes Keymer*Junction continue towards Brighton
Preston Park
Spur to Hove
Reverse at Hove
Brighton platform 3
Reverse at Brighton
East Coastway to Lewes
And continue towards Eastbourne or wherever the tour heads

*My autocorrect clearly loves the Bluebell Railway even more than I do!
