Hmm, I'm sure it was a Gemini, but I must be mixing it up with something else.
The Trident 2s on the 35 are awesome, although they're a bit rattly and crashy inside, as are the Pointers, the Urbans and Geminis are a big improvement.
Some of the pointers seem to have dodgy gearboxes as well, and some have a point when braking where the brakes suddenly grab and the bus lurches a bit. Mind you, they're nowhere near as bad as some of some of the old Leyland Olys (The Volvo ones were better)

You just can't beat a 90's Dart that has been rattled to buggery on our roads. One of ours even has a turbo that whistles like crazy. I ought to get a recording of it when I get my new video camera.

Hopefully when they get replaced on the Airlink 100, the Omnicities will become part of the regular fleet like the Trident 2s did (Maybe even on the 35), although that may have been the case with the Tridents because there were others in the fleet already, whereas the only other Scania in the Lothian fleet atm is the single Omnilink artic that's used on the X48 in peak times (Although there are rumours that Lothian no longer have it :cry.

Aww, cheers for posting that guys! I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for that one next time I'm in Edinburgh!

Although that also reminds me of when I caught the Inverness sleeper from Euston, back when I was doing my ALR. One of the coaches in the rake (The Aberdeen portion, IIRC) happened to be sleeper van 10666...And though the seated coaches are comfortable enough for my liking, it was the one point of my ALR where I regretted not being able to afford a berth!

Oh, and on the subject of Lothian: I've also attached a home-brew photoshop of their logo that I did whilst sat bored in the college library a few years ago...A homebrew that goes some way to reinforcing Lothian as the "l33test" bus company around!

Now that I think about it, I really should've got that one right, as I was on it last week. But I know what confused me now, it was because I was on a Gemini on the way back, which seemed unusual (It was actually 724, a 55 reg, SN55 BMU, I think).
With Lothian's Geminis, you can see how the design has progressed between 2005 and 2009, with the various different designs of the back of them (I think they have 3 or 4 different designs), although in the redesign from the Gemini to the Gemini 2, the rear has stayed pretty much the same.

Sold a couple of months ago. It was only really a toy in the first place.

While we're on the subject of the Proms, I'm irritated by the BBC's slavish obsession with performing 'new music'. I mean, it's very noble and all that, but I'm afraid I just don't like it - every Prom I went to (almost) had at least one piece that was, frankly, noise.

New music isn't all bad; but a lot of it is.

I actually quite like a lot of "20th Century" music; Shostakovich is pretty good and he used modern methods, as did neo-classicalist Prokofiev. Orff's Carmina Burana is a masterpiece, as is Holst's "Planets" and Copland's Clarinet Concerto.

But some of it, like Peter Maxwell Davies (Master of The Queen's Music) is frankly a load of bull, and there is worse out there. There's a belief in Aleatoric (random) and 12-tone (mathematical) music; neither ideas have any basis in reality and I've yet to hear anything but crap from them. (Although, to be fair, some random music works well in the right setting).

There have been various designs - the first one in 2005, the second one in 2005 with the one-piece numbers, the third one in 2006 with the redesigned front, the fourth one in 2007 with the redesigned back, the fifth one in 2009 with the Gemini 2.

I was aware of the two different number styles in 05, but I'm not aware of any change in the front in 06, the only one before the Gemini 2 I'm aware of was the change of the indicators/sidelights to LEDs.
There have been a few variations of the back, the main one being the complete redesign, but there were various ones before that were mostly to do with the rear lights, with the original 2005 ones only having the lower sidelights, brakelights and indicators, I think it was in 2006 that they gained the higher light clusters just below the upper rear window, and then in the redesign in 2007 the Lothian ones lost the higher light clusters and gained the high level 3rd brake light on the overhang on the roof (Although I'm sure I've missed one which had the high leve brake light without the higer light clusters).
The Gemini 2s retained the rear end of the final design of the Geminis, but the lower part of the front is the obvious change, especially the redesigned lights, with the inclusion of DRLs.
There's the First Edinburgh Geminis as well which have the higher light clusters as well as the high level brake light on the overhang.

I tend to pick up on little details like that.
For example, Lothian's old Olys, the Leylands had round lights and the wipers were hinged from the bottom, the Volvos, although they had near identical bodywork, they had retangular lights and the wipers were hinged from the top.

You know what really drives me up the wall?

The way this website decides to incessantly hinder your ability to scroll down the page until it is fully loaded. I click on a page, and start wizzing the scroll wheel downwards as soon as it starts to load. I get about halfway down, about three times over, only for the page to repeatedly kick me back to the top until it's finally loaded. ARGH!

I do it in work if there is currently no work to do, or if I am on the phone to someone who is currently doing something which requires no input from me. The great thing about work compared to school is you can do these things; in school if you had nothing to do you were expected to sit about wasting time, and if you were caught making use of the time (even if it was for your own benefit) you were scalded... Work allows you a bit more freedom, abuse it, you lose your job, simple!
