Conversely, I hate people who label you as homophobic if you say anything bad about a person who happens to be gay. I know some gay people. and some of them are ****ing assholes!
Or Jimmy Carter, who labels people racist just because they hate a President who just happens to be black. No Jimmy, we hate him because he's a worthless lying ****!

Something that is really beginning to irritate me about myself is the fact that I have a lack of compassion/tolerance for human beings. I've been thinking about it today and it's not a healthy state of mind to be in. Sure lots of people are stupid but all it's gonna end up doing is making me miserable and is probably one of the key reasons I have been single for the better part of this year. Having said that it is hard to think positively about humans when certain people on this board really make me wonder. D'oh. There I go again.

Well anyway there's my little bit of self reflection. I also reckon this thread's pretty much run it course now because people are just using it as a subliminal sneaky way to attack other members... and I'm no saint for it either.

Now this might unintentionally get on the goat of some people on this forum who are part of a certain segment of the community, and for this I do apologise in advance. Remember though that I'm in exactly the same division of society that ye are, and my views here are intended to be neither homophobic nor baseless...They're intended to be a perfectly mature and honest observation.

One thing that pees me off no end is the stereotypical mainstream gay "scene". Despite being mostly that way inclined myself, I find the whole "scene" to fit into just about everything that I'm not.

On the occasions where I've been exposed to the mainstream gay "scene", there has always been an unnaturally high encouragement placed on people to look as "young" and as faux "beautiful" as possible. For the most part, this is taken to such high extremes that on a few occasions I've been given the impression that I've been the one person in the entire establishment who doesn't have to present I.D. when ordering at the bar! hock::roll:

The worst thing for me of course is that 99% of people's inherant "worth" in the community seems to be based completely on fickle values, especially one's physical attractiveness. Thus even though someone might've invented a sure-fire cure for AIDS, have spent years of his life fighting for gay rights, or otherwise put a lot of his being into helping the gay community in some way...He wouldn't be considered "attractive" or "handsome" by anyone if he doesn't look at least 20 years younger than he is!

In my own case, I'm generally regarded as both the Elephant Man and Evil Incarnate () by the mainstream gay community - Just because I look a few years older than I am, have a personal preference for wearing my hair long, and prefer to keep a full beard going. Even though I am - As a rule - One of the most pleasant and polite people ye could ever meet, a large percentage of people in that community give me a wide berth just because I don't fit into what's considered to be "attractive". :roll:

To put it in a nutshell: I detest how fickle the mainstream community appears to me to be. Although there's nothing wrong IMO in being more attracted to one person than another, people should be judged on their personality and kindess...Not on how "good" they look, nor the dimensions of a certain part of their anatomy... hock::razz:8)

This is something that gets on my nerves as well, it's why I completely avoid it nowadays. The nicest people I know have little to do with the mainstream community, and the ones I know who are completely part of the mainstream, are tw*ts.

I feel ya there, Death. This world is such an odd place. Im stuck in a catch 22 because the better half of me tells me to stay away from people and out of relationships but the realistic part of me realises how sodding lonely i am and then just longs for it all again. Sigh. I think its one of the reasons i turned to trains and more recently, urban exploration. Both can be as exciting as one makes them and it can temporarily take my mind off the fact that i am pitifully lonely for my age. I know i sound like a right whiner but eh... Stuff it. Id kill to be straight anyday - you lot have it so easy.

That'd be alright, but a good thing on this forum, is that when you quote someone, whos quoted someone else, who may of quoted someone else(!), it'll only show the post you have pressed the quote button from.

If you're referring to a specific comment, I think it is necessary to quote what was said, whereas if it isn't necessary to quote specifically, a simple reply will suffice - is a ^^ really necessary, it's pretty damn obvious that your responding to a post above.

With regard to the shift+6 being used on other forums and being forum convention, I'm on several and haven't seen it. And on here you're the only one. Normal convention is to use the quote button.

Yes, this site lags my iPod a lot. Having said that its really slow anyway, I think it's too low on space or something. As for these ^ I have seen it used where someone agrees with an above comment and simply posts a ^. Theyre also used to symbolise eyes or something.

...well I use mostly band forums apart from this (well only two), and it is the norm to do that - and I don't swee the problem with doing it here. maybe its just music forum thing, but whenever I have used any other forums which tend to be for bands, apart from my usual places, its been the norm....

Most other forums I am/have been on it's used as an emot :P

Personally, I find it easier when people quote, as it shows exactly what they're replying to in the post itself, especially when they only quote the part they respond to.
It's also a bit annoying when the post is at the top of a page, or when the post it's responding to isn't the one directly above.

Not maing anyone and have no problems with no-one but some people are starting to copy but I cant see why they cant quote as it's easier and looks not as scruffy!

Something that intrigues me (not irritates... intrigues) is people who type forum posts in a formal manner like they were typing an email at work or something. You know, with the 'Hi' and the Regards and stuff. It makes me wonder do some people ever get out of the 'At work' mentality.

I also hate the amount of asslicking that goes on in places of work too, and I hate having to be dishonest. Unfortunately in the area that I am in you sometimes have to bend the truth slightly to keep customers sweet. If you just came out with the blatant truth and told people that computers really were piles of cr@p and that computer systems could just go down for no apparent reason, and that yes, users usually were the source of the error, we'd have no clients left and I'd have no job. Funny world.

The trains in my avatar irritate me, as do 144s. So do babies on public transport, people who don't just plug their photo's but almost ram them down your throat, wasps, Vista, buses, people who have like 500+ friends on Facebook, getting up early, rap music, poor connections at large stations, a lot of people, not having any money, cold windy days etc etc. I could go on!
