Cross-posting from the £2 fare thread, does anyone know the rationale or history behind Transdev's zonal tickets in Lancashire?
There is a Blackburn Local zone, day ticket £5.30, just covering Blackburn.
For an extra 70p you can get the Blackburn day ticket, £6, which also covers the whole of the Hyndburn district (Accrington etc) plus Darwen.
The Burnley zone and Pendle zone day tickets are also £6, but to travel between Burnley and Pendle you would need the Lancashire ticket, costing £9.
It seems a bit odd that you can get Blackburn and Hyndburn for £6, but for Burnley and Pendle, which I would say have quite a similar relationship, you have to fork out £9. I get that combining the Burnley and Pendle tickets would theoretically allow you to do something like Accrington to Barnoldswick very cheaply, but for journeys from Burnley to Brierfield, Nelson and Colne, which is surely where the demand is, £9 seems extremely high.
Then there's also the Rossendale day ticket anomalously priced at £7, which is a hangover from Rosso when it was still council run charging higher prices, plus it does cover quite a wide area. And if you live in the Ribble Valley district there is no local ticket, just the Lancashire one at £9.
