They're advertising getting to the Christmas markets using the X43.

They mention extra buses on Saturdays but no mention of frequency increases or a new timetable, so I'd assume any extras are likely to be duplicates at the busiest times.

The county council's list of timetable changes says Transdev will "revise the timetable" and "the standard timetable will be restored from 22 December" so that definitely sounds like an actual timetable change, but the Transdev explanation could just mean duplicates. Since there's no sign of any revised timetable for a change supposedly happening in 2 weeks I'd guess it will just be duplicates on the existing timetable.

Whatever they do it needs to be more than last year. I also question the really low standing capacity (4) of the E400s at this time of year - Manchester to Rawtenstall is a long way to stand, but if the alternative is watching multiple buses go past full I'm sure a few more people would be willing to stand. Leaving Manchester there are usually people getting off in Prestwich anyway so you might get a seat before the motorway.

Are you suggesting they let more than the four people stand that the bus is authorised for?

I would assume the suggestion is that the registered capacity should be revised - they can definitely fit more than 4 safely (or, at least, no more dangerously than the 4 already standing passengers on the motorway!).

Don’t forget standing capacity is capped by the maximum gross weight, not be the physical spaces available. They are heavier than the average E400 due to their spec.

Does anybody know whether Blackburn Bus Company MMC200 506 is currently at Team Pennine and if so why? Its been tracking at Team Pennine's Elland Depot on their 526/574 routes for the past couple of days according to Bus Times.

Sounds unlikely don’t you think?

This change has now appeared on bustimes.org, showing an enhanced Saturday service from 16 Nov (it's an odd timetable with the two directions running at different frequencies for most of the day)

But Transdev still haven't mentioned it, and are still posting on social media about the Christmas markets with links to the current timetable on their website. So I'm not sure what's going on with this.

Transdev have now confirmed the boost for Witchway:
Starting 16 November, we'll have more buses on our busiest days to make sure we can carry everyone in comfort. During the week, we’ll continue to run every 20 minutes between Burnley and Manchester. On Saturdays, we’ll be running more buses – with a bus up to every 15 minutes during the busiest parts of the day. We’ll have extra buses during the evening too, increasing to every 20 minutes from Manchester until 10pm.

And on a Sunday, we’ll add a new journey departing Manchester at 7.30pm.

And if you want to make a night of it, don’t forget our late night buses which run every Friday and Saturday, departing Manchester at midnight, 1.10am and 2.20am!

Will these services be made up of Versas or other buses at Burnley?

Has Burnley got enough deckers though to run these extra X43s and keep their promised increased capacity on some of the busier Mainline routes especially to Skipton and Keighley which sees more decker workings now especially at weekends?

As the previous post says, yes they have got enough deckers

There are no busy school, college or peak hour flows on a Saturday

Regarding the B10BLE survivors at Blackburn, I notice from bustimes.org that 1063, B10 YKT, appears to have last run on October 23rd, whilst 1103, PN02 HVK, currently remains in service. One assumes that the former has been withdrawn, leaving 1103 as the sole remaining example of the type here? Any ideas on how just the one has been replaced - the suggestions (way back in June when the farewell event was held!) were that some Streelites were on their way as replacements?

Yes 612-619 have replaced these.

I believe you're right, 1063 was withdrawn.

As for 1103 I can only assume it's one failure away from being withdrawn as the Streetlites are now ready for/already in service.

617 doesn’t appear to have been in serivice at Intack yet according to Bustimes, would presume they are waiting for that to be in service regularly before 1103 gets withdrawn.

Maybe quicker than that as Versa 293 went to Blackburn yesterday; Harroagte having reacquired on loan Merc demonstrator BF24AHC despite having at least one of their own Mercs parked in the depot yet to enter service

New evening interworking at Harrogate with instead of a vehicle flipping constantly between the 2 and 3 it does a Route 1 working inbetween. As such none of the Volvo Electrics are now used in the evening presumably in an attempt to give them greater maintenance time. Even so today only 4 were in use when 6 are needed and one of those packed in mid afternoon

Actual comment from Paul Turner on Facebook Transdev Enthusiasts is
“Assuming all goes to plan this weekend we expect to introduce our first Harrogate eCitaros onto the 1 on Monday. Presently there are seven in stock, with some more due next week. Of the Enivro400EVs, 2211 has returned to Falkirk today after display at the Euro Bus Expo. 2212 is presently the only one with us and is at Blackburn for its Post Delivery Inspection (PDI). We expect a couple more next week for final testing of the Infrastructure and software. All 19 will be delivered to Blackburn for PDI then swapped one for one with B5s when they are ready for service. The B5s will be painted for Keighley at Bus and Coach World.
The Citaros will release a few cascades. 1867 will go to York, 1860, 1871 for repaint then to York, 3613 will move to Blackburn after a repaint, loan E200 YX71OJB will move to Blackburn and a couple of B7RLEs will move to Team Pennine.
Repaints of 61 and 63 have been completed and the buses vinyled today - they suit blue! At Blackburn 1868 is back from repaint into The Blackburn Bus Company livery.”
Meanwhile a rare day at Harrogate with more Volvo Electrics in use as the day went on rather than fewer. All 7 duties being filled by them with a B7RLE having to do just two workings before 803 entered service. 805 remaining the out of use one.

I would hope with the new fleet they can leverage some remaining diesels before transfer or disposal to allow for the Volvos to get some more intensive work done to get them back up to a more reliable standard (if financially viable to do so)

Other than one persons constant commentary here is there any evidence that they aren’t reliable?

Just look at bustimes data on them - the weekday PVR is 7, Saturdays is 6 but how on many days are there is at least one diesel filling in maybe from start of a rosta or having to fill in later. 805 has managed half a days work this year; probably they should not tried using it on Friday the 13th (September) . There is an entry of it on 8 March which is a ticket machine error as by all accounst it was with Volvo in Poland at the time. A B7RLE is in use today, it passed me working 3.

I don’t think it was in Poland, they are maintained by Crossroads at Boroughbridge. With 805 discounted they have 7 buses for 7 boards, so managing six most days seems reasonable.

Out of the eight Volvo 7900Es, obviously there is something seriously wrong with 805, and 801 had about 6 weeks off recently, but the other six have each had at least 50 days in service over the last 2 months (three of them over 55 days). That sounds more like there are particular issues with 1 or 2 individual vehicles rather than any systemic unreliability with those buses in general.

You could tell it was 801 approaching by the audible rattles. Whilst the other six may have worked a significant number of days they have not neccessarily fulfilled their duties and have had to be replaced. Only three were in use the other Saturday while one failed midweek inconveniently at the start of the evening peak meaning a 40 minute gap arose on route 3. Their was a Starbus already in use on one of the rosters but unfortunately that did not form the next 3 which was crammed full.

I’ve looked back at Bustimes and they seem to be working full days more often than not this month. I can’t see anything to suggest that they are any less reliable than any other six year old bus.

Still leaves 62 to be repainted from Rosso Rovers to either Transdev Go or to York & Country.

I assume its a tracking error, but 1001 was tracking on the Coastliner earlier. can anyone confirm if this is true, or if its been seen in Harrogate?

Also 1867 has officially transferred to York now, it left Harrogate earlier today.
