It depends what is actually happening! @BMIFlyer's post from December, says that it'll be DT, TSO1, TSO2, and FO, but this article from April says DT, T1, T2, T3.

I would think that it'd be the former, as the image from which T1, T2, T3 are drawn looks like it may have been early in the program given the lack of TPE livery.

Seems strange to designate the intermediate coaches as TSO and FO but make the Driving Trailer just DT, that's just how I feel.

Designation changed since I wrote the original post.

Loco, T1, T3-1, T3-2, T2, DT
Coaches in order: Loco, (E)(D)(C)(B)(A)

Coach E?

I would have figured they would just skip the E and go straight to F like CrossCountry and I presume Virgin do with their 5 car Voyagers.

Aren't they in fixed formation, so no fiddling around with intermediate coaches?
So they are "units" really, apart from the loco.

Isn't that because if they use both E and F it is easy to confuse the two, either by the letters on the vehicles being damaged or a printing error on tickets?

Virgin use Coach E for the first class driving car. I always thought it was odd for cross country to not use E however it makes sense if it is confused with F in printing errors.

My understanding was that they missed out letters on the voyagers because they were designed to be extendable to 6-car units. As such that's why coaches B and E don't exist on a 4 car and E doesn't exist on a 5 car.

That's entirely sensible. I wish it had happened! Hopefully there is scope to easily extend these TPE sets in the future.

I have just read online that the second build set has this morning arrived in the U.K.

Seems unlikely, because if you have a 5-car unit you won't be using both E and F. I think dp21 has the right answer in post #792.

Couldn’t be on time, it’d embarrass all the other TPE trains!

Just clocked the second rake sitting to the north of the former Eurostar depot. One of very few occasions where I'm likely to see a TPE mark 5 rake hauled by a pair of 37s (coupled directly to the "blunt" end of the set - barrier vehicles and class 47 coupled to the cab end at the rear)!

Its almost funny that the brand new hauled stock is delivered by a pair of ancient diesels which really should have been scrapped a long time ago.

Why do they need all the barrier vehicles? It looked like there was 4 but I am not sure.
