I meant the interior layout! I have pictures now to show - the only difference I can see is that the TPWS has been moved to accommodate a screen, and one dial that has been removed.

In all seriousness though, apart from the seats themselves being rubbish (matter of opinion, I know) the spacing looks very generous indeed and the window alignment isn't as bad as seemed to first be the case. (Perhaps it's only the DTSO that's really badly aligned).

I'm pretty sure the Huddersfield Daily Examiner is mostly run from Manchester these days... they certainly only have a very minimal presence in Huddersfield itself.

Here's a radical thought though: why not wait and see what these trains (and their seats) are actually like to travel on (and sit in) before writing them off as rubbish?

I'd like to point out we in Yorkshire were quite happy with our steam trains (which would likely still have been running if they hadn't been scrapped) as they had plenty of accomodation unlike their replacements!

30 minutes or so from Paddington to Reading and severe back pain by the end of it is quite adequate for me to have fully developed my dislike of those seats. (They are the same as the Class 800 seats).

The rest of the package, window alignment aside, looks quite good.

Presumably they are testing that the Driving Trailer can control the loco. After all, they know the loco controls work.

They haven't been fitted yet while they do testing.

Well it doesn't stop people using the wrong designations for the Mk4s, so why should it with the Mk5s?

At least DTSO makes complete sense, DT isn't as descriptive as it could be, though I understand the designations are more fluid these days anyway.

The O is somewhat superfluous - all stock is open nowadays apart from the sleepers! DTS would be a good compromise between traditionalists and what it is, but really DT is as descriptive as it needs to be, there isn't a DTF and a DTS to confuse, so DT will do fine.

It depends what is actually happening! @BMIFlyer's post from December, says that it'll be DT, TSO1, TSO2, and FO, but this article from April says DT, T1, T2, T3.

I would think that it'd be the former, as the image from which T1, T2, T3 are drawn looks like it may have been early in the program given the lack of TPE livery.
