We switch to Stagecoach Waves bus 101 at 1137 and travel via Lydd where it becomes the 100 (through bus, no change required) to Winchelsea New Inn, eventually arriving at 1353 Wednesday afternoon

Time for a snack and a hot drink, before we board the 1444 Stagecoach in Hastings service 344 that arrives at the station approach road of Hastings railway station at 1518 on Wednesday afternoon.

We take the 15:31 Southeastern service to Waterloo East, arriving 17:00 Wednesday

We join with the homeward-bound commuters and board the 1712 SE service to Gravesend that arrives at 1806 on Wednesday afternoon.

We stroll down to the pier and get the 1830 Lower Thames & Medway Passenger Boat Company ferry to Tilbury, arriving 1835 Wednesday evening

Of course, Tilbury Riverside railway station is no more, having closed in 1992, but there are signs around advertising the shuttle bus service from the ferry terminal to Tilbury Town railway station, so we board the 1840 Clintona Minicoaches service 99 that runs this convenient service to Tilbury Town railway station, arriving there at 1846 on Wednesday evening.

Which gives us plenty of time to connect onto the 18:54 c2c service to Fenchurch Street, arriving at 19:37 on Wednesday evening

We now board the 1950 c2c service to Upminster that arrives there at 2012 on Wednesday evening.

We take the 20:17 District Line service to Ealing Broadway, arriving 21:48 Wednesday

and continue on the 2211 Heathrow Connect service to T1/3, arriving 2235, Wednesday evening

We have a look round whilst making our way to stand 14 of the Central Bus Station and there we board the 2310 Oxford Bus Company coach OXF to Oxford Gloucester Green bus station that arrives at 0040 in the very early hours of Thursday morning.

We return to London on the Oxford Tube at 0110, getting off in Shepherds Bush, Royal Crescent at 0217, Thursday morning

Thankful indeed that buses seem never to stop running in parts of the capital, we wait until it is time to board the 0312 London Bus service 295 to Clapham Junction (St John's Hill) that arrives there at 0340 on Thursday morning.

We make our way to the station for the 0408 Southern service to Brighton arriving 0518 on (checks) Thursday morning

Time to have a good hot breakfast to take the chill out of our bones, before boarding the 0601 SN service to Durrington-on-Sea that arrives at 0627 on Thursday morning

We continue on the 0648 Southern service and alight at St Denys at 0808, Thursday morning

We hang around St Denys for a while, and catch the 08:53 South West Trains service to Basingstoke, arriving 09:41 Thursday

After a welcome snack and hot drink to sustain us for our onward journey, we board the 1047 XC service to Macclesfield that arrives at 1411 on Thursday afternoon.

We head over to the bus station to take the 14:40 Arriva North West route 130 to Heald Green Griffin, arriving 15:46 Thursday

The 130 does not have an accredited stop at Heald Green (Griffin) owing to the fact that it has to turn right at the traffic lights at Etchells Road, but it does stop outside Tubs and Loos on Wilmslow Road or at the following stop of Etchells Road (New A34 bridge). .... This will be the stop now to use.

We now board the 1611 Stagecoach Manchester service 369 to Stockport bus station that arrives there at 1636 on Thursday afternoon.

We take the 16:45 Stagecoach Manchester route 308 to Stepping Hill Hospital, arriving 17:54 Thursday

Time is on our side as we do not have too long to wait for the 1820 High Peak service 394 to Charlesworth (George and Dragon) that arrives there at 1859 on Thursday evening.

We wait for the 19:19 Stott's Tours route 202 to Mottram Junction Inn, arriving 19:28 Thursday

We hang around for an hour (somewhat lost I might add - there's another Mottram Cross not a million miles away that confused me for a while) before catching the next 202 bus to Godley station, arriving at 2035 Thursday evening
