The 59 Enviro 400EVs were ordered for Queens Road - post-order they realised electrification was going to take far longer and Oldham was already electrified so the order was split (Oldham had the capacity to charge 34 more vehicles but not all 59) then the other 25 went to Metroline on the same basis that Hyde Road would have capacity post electrification.
They were short of buses prior to mobilisation. I’d imagine the state of the scania’s and some of the B9’s played a big part but it worked quite well as Oldham were having major issues with their chargers and were struggling with the buses they already had so it worked out ok.
Nothing to do with buses at mobilisation. How many E400EVs were in service in January? And remember Metroline declined to accept them until certain rectification work had been undertaken.
What do you mean by paint floats
It generally means extra vehicles added to a Depot to allow "resident" vehicles to go away for repainting. Once the repainting cycle is completed, the "float" vehicles would leave the depot, never forming part of the Depot's long term fleet.

I think those B5LHs that are absent are not going to come back because they will soon be replaced once Middleton is electric or when those 220 new buses come
The B5 repaint/refurb programme at Oldham was stopped a long time ago.
Intended as paint/refurb cover whilst the E400Hs and BYDs are dealt with.
Presumably because they are temporary pending the planned new electric depot.

It was Hyde road that sent them to Wigan however most Sharston’s fleet is Streetdecks but the hybrids are still there
They aren't due until the end of 2026 so still time yet, haven't found any info as to what buses they'll be though I'd personally like to see more BZLs
With the (Scottish) Government having given some loans/support to ADL recently I suspect that there maybe some indirect pressure to put at least some of the order there way....

Will the Little Hulton ones also be going? Are they going elsewhere or scrap/resale?
Middle of December has been suggested elsewhere. Be interesting to see where some of the painted Tridents (E400’s) end up, with particular reference to the ex north east hybrids that are really hated by many.
As I understand it the little Hulton fleet is still under Stagecoach control not TFGM so stagecoach would presumably have to source buses from elsewhere to replace them.
I don’t think Stockport council have decided yet.
