Argh, I thought it was dud but I need it. Hope it's back out when I go up in the summer!
I can't seem to see the rebuild on a numerical search alone-have you got the exact photo URL?Not my photos but thought people might be interested to see how the rebuild is progressing.

Is there not going to be a corridor connection for the cab end?
There's only a couple of external shots, it's not really possible to see if seats are even fitted at this stage. The dark blue base coat suggests that an application of Scotrail saltire vinyls is awaited. As my username would suggest I cant really appreciate the pictures but do the seats look any good or have we gone ironingboard here?

Are toilet seats that are 5mm thicker in depth not easily sourced?

Is it definitely 156478? Isn't 156509 there as well for similar work under the 'normal' ScotRail scheme?
Superficially at least (no doubt the electrics and below solebar mechanical equipment were completely shot), 156478 suffered less damage than the 156s involved in the Ais Gill (1995) and Crosby Garrett (1999) collisions on the S&C, units 156490/468 and 156489 respectively: 156490 in particular essentially lost a cab and the more heavily damaged vehicle (52490) was out of service for a fairly protracted period of time IIRC.I know it sounds daft, but can we get a preservation order slapped on this one for when it is withdrawn...? Be nice to preserve the 156 that rose from the grave
There was a crossing incident with a lorry in Norfolk not so long ago too involving an NXEA 156 wasn't there? That looked pretty bad.
Am I correct in assuming that Scotrail will lease the unit?
Yep, the fact that not a single carriage has been written off following some violent collisions, dramatic derailments (the unit at Falls of Cruachan for one) and unexpected submersions suggests that the units are virtually indestructible.Having all these incidents in one place makes you realise how robust little things they are

Think its more to do with the way the body is built.
Met-Cam used simple shells made of standard sections so they could be produced by anyone without having to use special tooling/pressings.
The two 150 vehicles written off had less damage but would have been a nightmare to fix due to the complex structure of a Mk3.
What about the centre cars added to GWR 150925 and 150926, They are the 57 Cars from 150209 and 150212, the 52 Cars having had to be withdrawn following collisions
The 365 at Potters Bar got written off - I think some of it may still be in storage?
509 is at Glasgow works.
