Nmt doesnt do loading gauge unless the special equipment is specificslly fitted. But usually it isn't... It does of course do track gauge!

NMT is the one which checks the track to structure clearance, especially lineside equipment and platforms.
Otherwise the tilting trains on the WCML would be liable to strike each other.
Although it also can check wire heights and OHL. As well as having forward and rear facing cameras.
There is a devoted structure gauging train that has not been out in ages. Presumably replaced by all the newer tools now available.
Quite aware that NMT can do track gauge and level and alignment that was what it started life for. It also live system tests development systems.
It's really a clone of Dr Yellow in Japan.
Any chance we can settle on: The NMT train is a developing piece of technology which gains new and experimental features all the time. There is currently structure clearance measurement equipment on the train which may and may not be signed off for confirming loading gauge in various scenarios.
This equipment may and may not have been installed, working and signed off in the runs down the Borders Line prior to the visit of the Flying Scotsman. In any case subsequent track work may and may not have been targeting a smaller loading gauge. As to the 365s, they are a class which is known to be close to the acceptable envelope, and it is not clearly known what their dynamic performance will be over the line in question. There are no circumstances where you want to discover that they clip the platform edges when they are full of passengers and in full service.

do we know which version of windows will be installed or will they need a trip to Springburn?
I heard or read that it is the flat screen window.
Also, 385005 is sat with tempory yellow door cover which usually indicates that it will be one of the unit(s) going to be moved.
The latest on the 365s start seems to be July. Another due to move North this week.
Training still in progress for Glasgow crews, but yet to start with Edinburgh crews.
It's been reported that two units (509 & 537) moved overnight
I thought that a substantial batch of dmus head south in July, so the 365s were essential by then.

Certainly the cheap fare via Airdrie is advertised as ending in July which implies resumption of normal service on the E&G.

Anyway, for the 385s, this would depend upon how long the windscreen issues take to get fixed, thoroughly tested and signed off for passenger service. Furthermore, it would also depend if Scotrail can find any further use for the 365s and if not, they would be returned to the leasing company. The 385s were supposed to have entered passenger service at the December 2017 timetable change, but was delayed, then the windscreen problem was highlighted on test runs in January 2018.

https://flic.kr/p/27WmEZD This fairly interesting convoy in Germany appears to have 2 385s in tow...perhaps they're the ones that have been on test around Chemnitz?
Now that another 2 x 365s have been released into the system today, training will now be able to ramp up for the July date. Assuming that suitable paths can be found.
Still some of the 10 units to come North for modification though. So times are tight for the full number to start.

There’s a fully modded 8 car formation out doing gauging/stepping distance trials this week, if I’m remembering the email correctly.
Today's delivery from Hitchin went into Springburn and 2 x 365s released today.
So now 4 usable trains available. With 365513 out today on driver training.

Saw 385 003 & 004 passing Newcraighall this evening, on their way west to Cadder Loop. Not clear if these are converted, but on a gloomy night the sighting issues with unconverted windows would have been obvious.004 is indeed the one with the new glass.
