Neither were knighted at all. Beeching went straight to a Peerage whilst poor old Welsby got nothing. All the other BR chairmen were made knights of the realm, before, during or possibly after their stewardship.Neither were knighted prior to their appointment
CorrectI'd imagine this would be Alistair Morton, the last Chairman of the British Railways Board, which wound up in 2001.
