Of course, that station of Rhiwderin was the one that closed in 1954 and was on the line of the former Brecon and Merthyr Railway. Incidentally, on the same line was that of Church Road that closed in 1957. Was that one outside the environs on Newport?
We still also wait news of acceptance or not that both the original closed stations of both Rogerstone and Risca do actually fall within the environs of Newport.
I was using this article from Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railway_stations_in_Newport
which says, amongst other things, this:
Former suburban stations
The following list of stations are all within the present city boundary, although all have subsequently closed.
Bassaleg Junction (1850-1962)
Bassaleg (1865-1962)
Caerleon (1874-1962)
Llanwern (1850-1960)
Marshes Turnpike Gate (1852-1853)
Marshfield (1850-1959)
Newport Courtybella (1850-1852)
Newport Mill Street (1853-1880)
Newport Dock Street (1852-1880)
Rhiwderin (1865-1954)
It doesn't mention a station called Church Road, and I'm not familiar with one with that name. If it was nearer to Newport than Rhiwderin, then it was inside the boundary.
Similarly, the article doesn't mention stations at Rogerstone and Risca. Depending on where the former actually was, it might have been inside the
boundary, but I'm sure that the latter wasn't. The current town of Risca isn't in the City of Newport as it's in the Borough of Caerphilly.
I am sorry for any inconvenience caused by any error(s) that I have made. I'll make sure that I do better next time!
