Is there any chance of those going to GWR to replace HSTs? if so I would imagine that's more likely as it would save DfT money
I think that's not unlikely for at least some of them but they have quite a lot.

I’ve heard this was apparently not the case with GA and their 379s, I’m sure Northern do open the gangways on sets that are coupled up.

I think its more likely that nobody has ordered them. At GA they only couple 755s for few services, the TfW ones won't be coupled and fir the Metro units they either won't be coupled or have short journeys so people can change unit at the stationI reckon they'd bid it, but I don't think I've ever seen a FLIRT with a gangway so it might be more difficult for them.
It's not just the UK where there are no gangways on any stadler units. As far as I'm aware there are no stadler units with gangways anywhere in the world, on any of their units.
