The first train affected yesterday (11 June) was 13:16 Lime St - Manchester Airport, terminated at Wavertree Technology Park due to "no power in overhead". Passengers (including me) evacuated, those bound for Manchester sent back to Lime St. to use services via CLC route. At the time, train crew had no info. about cause of problem.

(Wonder if it was a repeat of an incident last week, caused by bird's nest connecting 25 kV to earth ?)

OHL tripped and unable to reset due to heat expansion

Thanks that makes sense, I was working on the basis that 2H48 was a 319 which it obviously isn't as none of the Warrington diagrams have been converted (yet). I'm guessing it would be a 156 at present

From my observations it has been either a 150 or a 142.

Hi all, planning to go out and try and bag some of these units on Monday. Is there a good formal or informal diagram list in this thread - searched back a bit but can't find one?

Thanks

The few diagrams that I saw yesterday are below.

1H46 10:16 LIV-MIA was 319365
2F37 09:02 MCV-LIV was 319382
2F21 10:02 MCV-LIV was an unidentified 319 (please can someone help with this?)
2F25 11:02 MCV-LIV was 319368
There was an unidentified 319 still in FCC livery in the little depot behind Stockport station if someone could help with that too?
2F27 12:51 WBQ-LIV was 150220
1F97 12:40 MIA-LIV was 319371
1H49 13:16 LIV-MIA was 319365
1H40 14:16 LIV-MIA was 319361

Thanks in advance for any help with the ones I missed!

Is there any need for the amount and length of announcements from the PIS on the 319s?

It's 06:50 and I'm trying to get some sleep!

319366 is the unit in FCC live at Stockport.

In a word, NO!
The full set of announcements is OK a couple of times per trip, but not at every one of 13 stops.
Particularly galling (having just announced "This is X") is the "If you are leaving the train here at X...".
Every station seems to have the "mind the step down to the platform", even the brand new or rebuilt ones, eg at Huyton, Roby and Bryn.
There have been a few glitches too, with stations being announced one out of step.
Like the automated VT announcements, which like to tell you "This is the Virgin train to..." twice on departure, it's just too much, too often.
Or ATW telling you to "Please put litter in the bins provided" at every second stop.
By contrast, Merseyrail has it just about right - destination, next stop, silence, with extra safety information as you enter the city tunnels.

I am amazed to hear of what you say. Can someone with knowledge of the length of platform 4 at Manchester Victoria give the officially accepted platform length that currently exists.

The problem was a 142+156 combo conveniently parked slap bang in the middle of the platform!

That sounds worse than the time a 323 failed at Piccadilly and two later services were still sent to their usual platform at the same time (the one the failed 323 was on), those being a Northern 142+150 and a TPE 6 car 170, with the rear 170 not on the platform despite having passengers on it.

Saw the following today in a good few hours on all three routes - 361, 363, 365, 367, 369, 371, 380, 382 & 386

366 still in TL colours was this morning parked up just north of Preston by the old RES platform, not easily photographable.

361 will be joining it with transformer issues. It was finally returned to Liverpool coupled to its sister at 19:02 after spending 7 hours sunbathing in the reverse siding!

When pulling into Victoria we can be put into any platform and only know which one at the last gantry signal before the station. There are no stop boards and we know nothing about other trains, where when or what is coming in. If there is no platform staff on the arrival that show me where to stop or call me on to the end of platform I will stop in the middle to leave space for trains on both ends.
319 won't fit with anything else unless the other unit is at the end of platform. Platforms 3 and 4 can easily take three 15x and 142 mixed double units.
